1 Prerequisites
1.1 General information
All following instructions are only applicable for GSE/Tool P/N 98F29103500000.
This GSE/Tool User Guide must be read in conjunction with the appropriate Aircraft
documentation.
In case of conflicting documents please contact AIRBUS.
Before using or mounting the GSE/Tool, read this GSE/Tool User Guide carefully and
ensure that all content is well understood. Non-compliance with the instructions can
lead to personal injury or material damage and excludes any warranty.

The GSE/Tool is delivered by the manufacturer ready for assembly.


Before GSE/Tool assembly, a visual inspection and crosscheck with tool packing list
(see Chapter 5) shall be performed to ensure there are no missing or damaged parts.
During GSE/Tool life cycle, follow the maintenance intervals set out in the
maintenance instructions (see Chapter 4), except where:
- Visual inspection calls for immediate action;
- Unforeseen conditions necessitate more frequent servicing.

1.2 Warning and caution


A. General
The GSE/Tool P/N 98F29103500000 is designed to meet specific conditions of use
and to fulfil a defined function (described into this user guide). Any other use / action
than that given in this user guide will be under users / operators responsibility (except
in case of specific request coming from Airbus).

C. Safety precautions
Ensure safe working practices when handling the GSE/Tool.
GSE/Tool shall be used only by an authorized and competent person who fully
understands the content of this user guide.
Always follow the procedures described in this user guide and the related Airbus
maintenance tasks.

The user shall ensure that:


x The GSE/Tool is only used for the function it has been designed for, as de-
scribed in this user guide;
x The GSE/Tool is in proper working conditions and that the applicable safety de-
vices are checked for functional reliability;
x Required personal protective equipment (PPE) for the GSE/Tool users are
available and being used;
x Only qualified personnel is in charge of handling, operating, maintaining and re-
pairing the GSE/Tool;
x All attached safety and warning notices will not be removed and are legible.

2 GSE/Tool setup
2.1 Before use
x Check that the various parts of the tool are in good condition.
x Check the validity of the last conformity inspection.
x Read the installation instructions given below.
x If applicable, check the firmness of the bearing or mooring points.

2.7 Conditions of use

x The operator must be found in a comfortable stable position during the ma-
nipulations.
x To be particularly cautious when manipulating in altitude.
x Before any utilization, the operator must check that the tool components do
not present deformations or cuts.
x Before any utilization, the operator must check that the nuts and bolts are cor-
rectly tighten.
x The tool must be in warranty period.

2.8 Assembly procedure


x The valve/gage assy has been previously assembled.
x Isolate the accumulator of the pressurized hydraulic system following the
AMM current procedure.
x Release the pressure from the hydraulic system following the AMM current
procedure.
x Handle and place the bottle with nitrogen out of the aircraft, following current
procedure.
x Connect the valve/gage assy to the nitrogen bottle.

x Unroll the hose Lg10m taking care to avoid loops that can create one or more
folds.
x Check if the paths of the hoses do not pose any risk of crushing or pinching
who can cause a cut or sectioning of the hose.
x Unscrew the protective cap on the accumulator.
x Check if the valves for pressurizing and purging of the inflation block 98
F29103500 102 are closed.

x Hang the carabiner of the cord-polyamide anti-whipping on the interface of


the fitting provided for this purpose.
x Screw the adapter onto the valve of the accumulator.

x Open the nitrogen bottle and control the outlet pressure, adjust if necessary.
x Slowly open the valve set pressure.
x Fill the accumulator following the AMM current procedure.
x Close the valve set pressure and the nitrogen bottle.
x Drain the hose connected to the accumulator by opening the drain valve.
x Disconnect the adapter from the valve of the accumulator.
x Position the protection cap on the accumulator.
x Drain the hose.
x Remove the carabiner.
x Remove the valve/gage assy from the nitrogen bottle.
x Store in the case.

3 Test & Maintenance

A. Periodical Test
AIRBUS recommends that following test must be performed every 12 months in
agreement with French legislation:

- Make a leak test at a pressure of 170 bars

If the frequency of the tests under load is more stringent in the country where the tool
is used, AIRBUS recommends that the user comply with the frequency given for the
test under load in the country where the tool is used.

B. Servicing & Maintenance


The servicing and the general maintenance operations must be done before each
use.
The servicing and the maintenance operations of the tool must be done when the tool
is removed or in a rest configuration.
For the tool:
x Examination of conservation condition, operational test.
x The protectors and protective devices are in place and ensure their functions.
x The braking systems are efficient.
For lifting accessories :
x Examination to check for the correct conservation condition of the lifting ac-
cessory.

4 Handling / Storage
A. Handling
Handling of case
The storage case with or without equipment is handled manually, the nitrogen bottle
is not stored in the case.

Handling of parts
All parts are handled manually.

Note : Manufacturer declines all responsibility for consequences of all inappropriate


handling which could cause damage.

B. Storage
Before storing, refer to ‘Packing checklist’ (chapter 2.3) in order to verify the
availability of all items which shall be part of the GSE/Tool P/N 98F29103500000.
When not in use, the tool must be stored in the crate provided for this purpose in a
clean place to avoid damage due to the following risks :
x Chemical: oxidization due to humidity resulting from :
x Rain (water falling directly onto the crate).
x Condensation (by variations in the relative humidity of the air due to tempera-
ture variations).
x Mechanical: surface accident, breakage

5 Removal from service


When removing a tool from service, the user must check that:
x No load remains suspended on the tool.
x If the tool is removed, it must be stored in its case.
x For short-term removal from service, if the tool remains on the aircraft, make
sure that it is correctly installed.
x For long-term removal from service, the tool must be removed and stored in
its case.

6 End of life
If the GSE/ Tool is out of order, worn or liable to provoke damages, the user shall
ensure that it is scrapped.

To be compliant with regulation 2012/19/EC - Do not dispose Electric
and Electronic Equipment waste and collect them separately
