United Kingdom Visas and Immigration Requirements

If you are a non-EEA (European Economic Area) national and you do NOT need to
apply for a Tier 4 Student visa to study at The University of Law
Once you accept your place, we will e-mail you to request scanned copies of your passport (and visa if
applicable).

If you are a non-EEA (European Economic Area) national on one of our full-time
courses and you require a Tier 4 Student visa
Please read the very important information about the United Kingdom Visas & Immigration rules and regulations
before you accept your offer.

If you require sponsorship under Tier 4 sponsorship, and you have met all necessary criteria, we will need to
issue you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) before you can apply for your visa. You will find
more information in the Visa Requirements section of The University of Law website.

Process to obtain your CAS

We will begin issuing CAS 3 months before the course starts, as this is the earliest date you can apply to the
Home Office for a Tier 4 Student visa. Once you accept your place and have made a pre-payment of £3,000
towards your course fees*, we will e-mail you to request scanned copies of your passport, all previous UK visas
(if applicable) and evidence that you have completed any courses that you studied in the UK after the course
which is the basis of your offer to study at the University. Once we have checked the copies of your
documents, we will assess your eligibility for Tier 4 sponsorship and confirm whether we can issue you a
CAS.

You will then be sent a pre-CAS e-mail to confirm all your details. You will also be asked to send scanned copies
of the financial evidence you will be using for your visa application^. The financial evidence will need to show that
you have enough funds to cover any remaining unpaid course fees plus the required living costs, as specified by
the Home Office. The money must have been held in your bank account (or your parent or legal guardian's
account) for 28 consecutive days, within 31 days of the date of your visa application. For further information on
the Tier 4 financial requirements, please see the Home Office Tier 4 Policy Guidance.

Once we have received your pre-CAS confirmation and correct financial evidence^, we will assign the CAS and
send you the details via e-mail. You will then need to use the CAS to apply to the Home Office for a Tier 4
Student visa.

Please note that students with exemptions and part-time students are not eligible for Tier 4 sponsorship.

* Students being sponsored by a preferred supplier law firm will not be asked for the payment. However, they
must submit an official letter from the firm confirming their sponsorship.
^ Students who qualify for the Home Office's Differentiation Arrangements are not required to submit their
financial evidence For further information on the Differentiations Arrangements, please see our Visa
Requirements webpage.

If you are a non-EEA (European Economic Area) national on one of our online
supported learning courses and you require a visa
If you are studying an online supported learning course, you will not be eligible for a Tier 4 Student visa.
However, the University can issue you a supporting letter to apply for a Short-Term Study visa. Once you accept
your offer, we will e-mail you to request scanned copies of your passport and all previous UK visas (if applicable).

For more information on the Short-Term Study visa, please see our Visa Requirements webpage.
