Central Theme: Righteousness
God is presented as total righteousness – his way is perfect
Psalm 92 – The lord is righteous and no unrighteousness in him
Righteous / Just same meaning in Hebrew word and Greek
word Hebrew – Sadik / Greek – Decaya
How can a mortal man be righteous before God? Answer is in
Romans. Totally possible.
No Condemnation.
Romans – beatitudes… Romans 5:6 hunger and thirst for they
shall be satisfied.
Seeking blessing / power / gifts /
But not so many hungry for righteousness
Change in priority…
There is higher value for righteousness
The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy
Ghost.
Brief Outline of Romans
AD 57 – public works – Erastus – public work at his own
expense
Divided into 4 main section
Chapter 1-8 Logical Explanation of the Gospel
Chapter 9-11 – Gods Dealing with Israel (God’s Election)
Chapters 12- 15 – Practical Application of Proceeding Truth –
General Revelation of truth – it always proceeds application -
Give God your Body as living sacrifice to God.
Chapter 16 – Personal Greeting and Benediction – Personal
Relationship – valuable in the sight of God. You are not a
number.
1 – 8 – Spiritual Pilgrimage and destination is Romans 8 where
it is a Spirit controlled life which is liberty joy and peace in the
Holy Spirit.
1-7 Stages on the way to the destination.
Percolated coffee and instant coffee.
Romans 8 is percolated… result of stages of 1-7
Romans 8 should not be treated as instant.
First half of the Part
Romans 1:1-17 –

Set apart to the gospel of God.
Paul has a unique function to the history of the church.
Function was to present the gospel in its entirety the gospel.
And so much was his revelation that later on in 2:16 we find
that he actually calls it my gospel – that’s very significant
Paul had such an abundance of revelation that to keep him
humble God had to permit an angel of Satan to buffet him.
The revelation in roman letter was a part of that. 2 Epistles
which Paul is the only author: romans and ephesians
Not an accident for it contains a revelation uniquely the
revelation of Paul.
Romans is the revelation of the gospel and Ephesians is the
revelation of the church. In these areas where Paul gave an
absolute unique contribution to the whole Christian Church.
He calls himself as a slave… not as a bishop or ptr
Particular area of Apostleship is the revelation of the Gospel.
Verse 5 – through Him we received Grace and Apostleship,
before the apostleship comes grace. Paul is very careful not
at anytime to promote himself.
An apotles to the gentiles
Romans 15:18-19 – to bring the Gentiles to believe in Jesus
and with the attestation of the supernatural.
Obedience of the faith – not obedience only but obedience
should proceed from faith or else it wont work.
You are trying to obey God in your own strength, in your own
ability, which results to frustration.
Emphasize obedience but it must proceed from faith.
Paul was praying fro a long while for a good journey to Rome.
I may have a prosperous journey by the will of God.
Prosperity is the will of God but don’t define prosperity as
the modern culture how they define prosperity.
Prosperity is being define us being totally equipped to do the
will of God. When you have successfully done the will of God
you have prospered. Bitten by a snake maybe in a shipwreck
don’t let that disturb you. What matter is are you doing the
will of God.
