MATHEMATICS JOURNEY GUIDELINES

 Gesture of Welcome
Good day! Grade 8 Catherinian. I am Ms. Melba Bernadette T.
Panugaling, your teacher in Mathematics 8. Here in St.
Catherine’s College, we make school year 2020-2021 happen in the
midst of global pandemic. So, I welcome you to the exciting world
of Mathematics that will develop the modeling relationships with
variables and equations and ratio and proportional reasoning,
making connections between proportional relationships, lines, and
linear equations. This will also develop your skills and critical
thinking. In this journey it helps you create a better world and life
for yourself and for others.
 Classroom Rules (subject)

For the offline modular mode of instruction:

Dear learner and parents/guardians:

There will be no face to face learning encounter for this school year because of
the pandemic. We call it the New Normal, the offline modular mode of instruction
where parents involve themselves in the education of children at home as to the
learning designs and feedback of the subject teacher. For this new normal, we observe
the following:

 The weekly module (Learning Kit) will be delivered door to door from
Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6 by our assigned school bus personnel. The first
delivery schedule is on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
 The First Retrieval of Module will be on August 4, 2020, Tuesday. The
distribution of Module 2 will be on the same day Module 1 will be retrieved.
It means distribution and retrieval of modules will be every Tuesday.
 Each weekly module contains the weekly Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) or Competencies, learning targets, sessions and
assessments which the learner will accomplish in a week-time. I also request
that as a parent, you affix your signature as evidence of support.
 I suggest that every day, the child schedules two (2) subjects to avoid delay
of submission. Send a letter of notice or call the subject teacher immediately
in case the child fails to submit on the weekly schedule.
 Attendance will be checked based on submission of the module every
Tuesday of the week.
 The textbook in Mathematics 8 is a requirement in the offline mode of
instruction. It is available at the school’s bookstore. Please, dear parent,
visit the school for inquiry.
 Consultation Protocol
 For parent-teacher communication follow-up, it will be via text message or
messenger. Answering of queries starts at 7:30 in the morning and ends at 5:00 in
the afternoon every Monday to Friday. This is to check and guide the learner of
whatever problem he/she encounters and to allow parents or guardians to share their
important concerns.

 Grade Components (based on K to 12)

 As a learner, you will be graded according to the three components: written
works, performance task attached in the third or fourth session of the module,
and quarterly assessment.
 Percentage allocation for each component is as follows: written works –
40%; performance task – 40%; and quarterly assessment – 20%.
