RATIONALE The spelling competency of students was observed to

have an evident degeneration and it is an alarming
problem when it comes to the over-all performance in
language learning. Students are now misspelling
simple words, and this was made worse by the use of
social media where a lot of orthographical error are
present. Students are now misguided and confused of
the correct spelling of words.
This issue can easily be addressed by incorporating
word learning in the student’s study. It is a main
concern of an English teacher to correct student’s
errors in learning the second language. The HANEY VS
or Handbook for Enriching Your Vocabulary and
Spelling aims to address this problem to language
acquisition. The handbook will be comprised of a set of
words to be provided to the students each month to
familiarize and master. Each grade will have their own
set to match their level. Each set includes the spelling
of the word, IPA transcription, part of speech, meaning,
and example sentence. To ensure that the students
practice these words, they must create their own
sentence using the words given and it will be
monitored by the English teachers. This handbook will
be used for the COP BEESS- Building, Enhancing,
Enriching Spelling Skills.

OBJECTIVES This project seeks to create a handbook for enhancing

students vocabulary and spelling skills, it specifically
aims to:
 To identify the commonly misspelled words.
 To enhance students’ spelling skills.
 To improve students’ vocabulary.
