not knowing the vital secrets they ought to have known

conceptualizing stages in a business that could help shape

your business provide you with a definite trajectory path

for growth and prepare you for the task ahead.

Note; nothing great happens without a concerted effort put

in place; therefore, these would lead us to the following

element of conceptualizing stage. Which are?

Idea Formulation

This is the most crucial part of all and it places total and

unhindered responsibilities on the shoulder of everyone

that would be great in business, it is also a critical part that

a lot of young business owners pay less attention to.

business that will see the light of the day and survive the

test of time.

Therefore an adequate amount of time, energy, and

resources must be invested in this stage, just like it is

expedient for a farmer to prepare the ground effectively

before planting season or a good foundation is required for

a building that would withstand the storms, and survive.

easy visibility, and where your product can be accessed at

Market research negligence is another costly mistake many

businesses are making and many start-ups are too reluctant

to consider it as part of necessity during preparation.

You need to know that every products or service have its

market design that help them to thrive the most. There are

some products or services that are location bound; some

are price bound, while others are tech/digital bound.

So you have to understand the type of market that is

suitable for your product to thrive. You have to prioritize

how the market interfaces with similar products or

services. For example, in Lagos, Nigeria; you cannot

expect a product or service that is mainland bound to be

visible on the highland or generate the same

service will sell in the market; you don’t consider which

market is best suitable for your products. You need to

personalize or carve a market for your product, or set out a

market for your products or services. Then, move to

evaluate the size of the market, geo-location of the market

Understanding of this analysis would help you to select

there are some products or brands that you can find or exist

product to yours in the market. Refuse to give room for

ignorance to thrive in your decision-making. I could

remember when cowbell started with sachet milk some

years back and every other competitor started mocking

them, despite those mockeries the company built relevance

and sustainability over time, and they captured a relatively

large size of market share for their product until the brand

became a household brand in Nigeria and for most

Nigerians.

All these feats were possible because the company did a

proper analysis of the market; they didn’t just rush into

production because there is an available market rather they

created a product that can match the demand of the

majority of the market populace, a product that the market

and its audience can relate to easily in terms of pricing

advantage, and product availabilities.

Another closed example was when I started an electro-

mechanic company that failed woefully because I didn’t

study the market enough, it fails not because there are no

demands for the service in the market, rather because I

failed personally to carry out due diligence of the market

system, so I was practically operating at almost opposite of

what its prevalence in the market, since the market and its

audience could not absorb my operational method. It

eventually led to folding up of the business.

From the two examples above, you can draw very useful

lesions that involved two ideas executed with two different

approaches.” The maker of every idea is a function of

the approach given to it. That is to say, every idea is

beautiful in its raw form but what brings out the beauty

in reality, is your approach. So can you see reasons that

having an idea is not enough? You have to compliment

your ideas with a relevant action plan.

The good news is that you can still retrace your steps and

amend where it is necessary before it is too late.

Audience

Never make the mistake that every idea will be suitable for

everyone to embrace. This is another mistake many

businesses and newbie’s are making daily. The audience is

very important but the right audience is like a magical

experience any business can ever imagine.

Understanding and setting your audience alone is an

indicator that the chance of survival for that business is at

60%. See I have come across many businesses that have

got everything right from idea formulation - to market

research except having right audience, and the impact is

telling negatively on their products or services performance

in the market. In setting the right audience, you just need to

be conscious of the fact that it’s possible for you to under-

value or over-value your product. That is why sincerity is

an important tool to self-examine your idea.

You can’t just afford to leave things to chance; the strength

of your business lies in your preparations, and getting the

right audience for your business is one of the cores of

preparation that attention must be given to.

I have watched many businesses crashed before they could

get to the survival stage, all because they failed to carry out

due diligence where they ought to. On the other hand; I

have also watched how companies like “Apple “grew in

bounds and leap within its operational Operandi until it

became the household choice around the world.

In fact; 6 out of every 10 households in the world are

Apple's audience. They understood the roles of the right

audiences in scaling their business. You can accomplish

the same feats. All you just need is to set things in the right

perspective for your business to thrive.

Another case study is the Android Mobile Phone

Industry, once upon a time; the operation of the mobile

phone industry is dominated by the era of Nokia,

blackberry but a time came for Android mobiles and

took over the market cap because they invested time to

study the market extensively to tap into the unreached

large market density and designs a product that is

widely accepted by the majority and these have a positive

resultant effect on their products till today. No matter how

small that business is? One thing is sure there is room for it

to grow and expand in-bound once you can decide to put

the necessary preparation in place.

The Product:

In transforming your ideas into a reality or scaling your

business to the next level. It is important to know that the

rise and fall of everything about your business and what its

represent is largely a function of your product.

You have to create a people-friendly product, a product

that is flexible enough to catch up with the market

momentum, and it must have the ability to revolve around

technology.

One thing is certain and you must know this, that is; the

market will keep changing but the audience is the same.

Your market share is a function of how charming and

audience-driven your product is. No product can scale

beyond the efforts you put into its preparation.

Don’t be too rigid with information at your disposal

available for you to scale up; rather create a fit product that

matches your environment's needs. It’s best to create a

product around your environment, your communities,

or targeted your circle in the society.

I have seen a lot of good and quality products but the

wrong environment has rendered such product useless,

likewise I have seen a lot of terrible products lying low and

almost useless in a good environment because the people in

the environment refuse to engage such product.

There are a few things you have to consciously plan and

considered before creating your product for the market. In

other words, this means there are some features your

products must reflect before they can be considered as

quality products by the users.

Firstly, what needs does your product address in the

market? You have to create a product to solve a problem

around the needs of people or your targeted audience in

such a way that would attract them always to your product.

Remember that finding the problem is the science of

product management, while solving it is the art of

development.

Secondly, does your product have a mass appeal? You

have to create a product that can sell to stay-at-home

mothers of two can flow with as well as seasoned banker or

a common man in the neighborhood.

Thirdly, does your product have a unique feature? You

have to create a product that is credible, reliable, simple to

use, durable, and has an aesthetic design, each component

So therefore, you have to consider that a quality product is

Product-led growth.

Lastly, you have to create a relevant product. The

industrial revolution is gone and so is the dot.com

revolution. We live in a new economy and the economy is

called relevance.

Many brands are unaware of this new economy, it’s the

ultimate deal. Your product needs to stay relevant with the

important to consider the role preparations played in

building sustainable enterprises. At this stage, we would be

Pitching:

The term ‘Pitching” is often referred to a process, a process

of persuading, with objective to convincing, inducing, and

gaining people over to your business or ideas.

Pitching is one of the vital ingredients necessary to make

your product to be visible.

Therefore, pitching your idea is a step you need to take

in winning people over to your ideas or businesses,

projecting your business visibility in people’s minds,

and attracting the right set of people to your business.

This stage is a very sensitive and strategic phase in any

business that will survive. The essences of pitching are to

project, and make visible your idea/business. Once you

understand this, your operation operands become seamless.

Many businesses have been ruined as a result of not

placing the right value on this stage of business

preparation.

As a young business owners or aspiring entrepreneurs, you

today as a result of their access to financial backing,

the overall performance of your idea or the business you

are doing.

In pitching for a fund, you have to realize that no investor

will ever want to invest in just an idea that you have not

done anything about. People want to see something that is

the product off the shelve. See, it is better to lose a little

I know taking a risk is part of being an entrepreneur but

taking a calculated risk is far better. As an entrepreneur,

you need to be a master of the market, not just the

products.

Thinking for your customer is wrong and can be deadly to

the growth of your business, instead; throw your offer to

them and let them think for themselves. That’s the only

way you can know the mind of your audience and then

of people for business is the greatest asset you can gift your

business.

Building a team is the bridge and a lifeline of any business

that will survive in this century where the terrain of

I have to realize that building a formidable team is the

believe in your team-ability and give them room to

make significant contributions with their creativity and

see through the compass of their innovations to propel

your goals and position your brand at the center of

Having the right set of people as a team helps you to

expand your reach and increase your revenue. Remember,
