Assumptions

• Analysis done is purely on the basis of the data set and no personal bias is there
• Appropriate filtration of null and empty values are done .
• Dirty data or values (like z_SUV) across multiple columns have been cleaned using custom split .
• Parameters and calculated fields wherever necessary are maintained.

• There are around 10284 numbers of insurance policies. Out of which 8737 are distinct. Furthermore, there are 8232 number of claims.
• Based on a person having multiple car types which shared the same customer id be derived the distinct id’s
• Private vehicles have the highest insurances compared to commercials (6497)

• It also reveals that cumulatively females take the most insurances (5538). Out of this, 3329 females are married whereas 2209 females are single
• 76.23% insurances come from high school bachelors and master degree holders
• We can state that married people take the greatest number of insurances (6176).

• Categorically dividing records based on occupation reveals that 22.23% of blue collared jobs cover the total percent of customers
• Interestingly doctors take the least insurances (3.10)
• There were nulls on the occupation set which got converted to others

• Insurances based on income group (calculated field) reveals that those who earn above $100000 take the maximum insurance.
• While the least number of insurances are taken where the insurances are less than $10000
• Minimum age of insurer is 32 years and the maximum age is 89
• Age group between (59-68) take the most insurances with records of 4,392 followed by the age group of 69-78

• Overall claims information reveals that 59 to 68 years of age group which is 40.84% of total claims are the highest. 90% of the claims come from the
people born between 1941 and 1970.
• Also, income group falling above $100000 has a significant higher claim than the rest.

• Claims based on marital status reveals that married couples have a significant higher number of claims. Out of which 2428 are female and 2103 are
male.
• Old Claims vs New Claims reveals that the number of new claims has significantly reduced. There were 3540 Old Claims compared to now being
reduced to 2340 new ones.

3 Overall Information of Insurance and claims based on cars

•We can see that on an average panel trucks are having higher prices as well as car age. ($29144 and 10.144 years respectively)
•SUV’s are driven the most across both the rural and urban regions
•Customers are using pickup mini van’s as well as panel truck for commercial purposes.
•Majority insurances covered is for SUV’s which has a relative share of 30.40%. Panel Truck has the least insurance covered
•Similarly, SUV’s have the most claims done.

•There are 5 different categories with respect to Education.


•There are 60% of the total claims come from high school and bachelor degree
•1933 claims filed by Blue Collared Profile which contributes 23.77% share.
•75% of the total claims come from Blue Collared, clerical, professionals, managers and students

CONCLUSION
• The scatter plot reveals that there are no relation between income and total Claimed amount across both the genders,
though it can be maintained that there is some positive correlation between bluebook which is the worth of the car and
income , and the trend becomes more evident in case of commercial vehicles

• Lastly going forward , would love to state that based on the car age and condition we need to set a threshold limit on the
claimable amount.

• We need to set a limit on the number of claims a customer can make in a particular year.

• We need to plan some promotions or offers to retain the best existing customers and at the same time we need to remove
the worst customers from the company’s list.

• Also, we need to plan some advertising campaign to attract new customers. We need to make sure that the targeted new
customers should satisfy the above listed constraints.
