Soul Astrology is the name given to forms of astrology that draw upon psychological astrology,
transpersonal psychology and esoteric astrology, to create a model of the Universe and how
we fit into it.
Soul Astrology is a tool for personal and spiritual development that can:
• Assist deeper systemic change whether it be your work or family
• Be used in a coaching relationship for deeper exploration
• Give a sense of where you fit in to the bigger picture
• Give you a frame of reference to be used in your daily life.
When we have these three things, we have a powerful tool for personal and spiritual
development, at our fingertips.
Next we need to understand how they relate to each other, and then to us personally. This is
all outlined below.
Our Ascendant (Rising Sign), indicates our Soul’s journey. This is the sign that was
‘rising’ on the horizon at the time of our birth and marks a very important occasion:
the dawning of our whole life!
From Aries at the beginning through to Pisces at the end, the whole Zodiac can be
viewed as developmental stages in human consciousness. What happens when a Soul
reaches the end of the Zodiac (the twelfth sign of Pisces) and thus completes a cycle?
It begins again at the first sign of Aries, progressing upwards through an endless
spiraling, unfolding, blossoming, of human consciousness.
The Soul is a vehicle for our spiritual energy, and so our Soul Sign indicates our innate
core essence. It is the essence of who we really are, and our true nature as a spiritual
being, but this all remains latent while we are identified with, and driven by, the
needs of the personality. Our spiritual development involves realizing this core energy
and expressing it into the world. Becoming a fully Soul-centered individual.
For most of us our everyday experience is shaped, received and perceived through the
filters of our personality. The simplest definition of “ego-personality” is when our mind
is thinking about itself.
It is the sum of all our learned behavior, from this and past lives, our self-image and
our self-concept. It is both the mask we show to the world and the window through
which we see and experience the world. All of this might feel very real to us now, yet
it has all been picked up along the way and added to our underlying true nature.
In Soul Astrology this collection of habits and reactions is symbolized by our Sun and
Moon signs. They represent our habitual (learned) ways of thinking and acting. The
Sun is that aspect of our personality that we are aware of, conscious of; it is in the
light. The Moon is that which we are unaware of. It is in the dark - our shadow
personality.
The learned behavior of our Sun and Moon signs is so powerful that we identify with
it. We feel as though it is “who we are.” Our spiritual path involves dis-identifying
from these personality traits and reactions by changing our behavior patterns and by
recognizing that while we might have those tendencies and abilities, we are also so
much more than that.
It’s not that we don’t cross over into other areas, we all do, but in times of stress and
challenge we rely on and trust our default M.O. more than the others.
The Moon sign indicates our innate emotional state and who we become in relating
with others. The Moon reflects our past, our karma. The accumulation of good and
bad traits in our personality, or consciousness, inherited over many incarnations. It
equates with the shadow side of our personality, our sub-conscious: in other words
the side of our nature that we would rather not look at, and are largely unaware of.
In this sense it is really true that the most difficult people are our wisest teachers.
They will push our buttons and illuminate our shadow, so we can see which aspects of
ourselves we need to work on, if we are to become fully integrated, healed and whole
(holy) as a congruent and integrated Soul/personality.
Personality Types
We can already see the combinations of personality types that are possible. For
example if our Sun is Gemini and Moon is Cancer, our M.O. will be thinking/feeling.
We will basically be a thinking/feeling type. The combinations are many depending
upon the various Sun/Moon signs, such as thinking/thinking; thinking/feeling;
thinking/action; thinking/practical; feeling/thinking; feeling/feeling, feeling/action,
practical/action and so forth. You get the idea.
Our personality is how we mainly operate out in the world, in our relationships, and it
is learned behavior. To find out what energy wants to be expressed in the world
through us, we need to look deeply at our Soul Sign. This is our inner light, which
wants to shine!
The following report outlines your Soul's essence, and potential. It is a tool to support
you in familiarizing yourself with your own energy field: your personal Mandala!
It begins by giving your personal birth chart so you have the Astrological information
that this report is based upon. Then it describes your essence as your Soul Sign, and
discusses the meaning of your lunar North Node – which is like a spiritual prescription
pointing you towards activities that can help you to align with your Soul’s essence.
The characteristics and energy dynamics of your Sun and Moon sign are described to
help you understand both sides of your ego-based personality, and what you can do
to change habitual limiting patterns so you become free to align with your Soul’s
essence.
Finally there is information on transcending your personality signs and working with
the Zodiac through the seasons. By observing shifts in your energetic field throughout
the year you will come to a deeper understanding of the energetic relationships
involved.
The path of your ego-personality (Sun/Moon), with its unique joys and challenges, is
your own individualized pathway to spiritual awakening and Soul integration
(Ascendant).
In describing and defining yourself, experiment with using your Ascendant first and
see how it feels. So it would sound something like this:
This description sums up your individual spiritual path: the challenge to release
identification with your personality traits, and lead with your Soul’s essence, purpose
and qualities.
With Virgo Rising, Sun and Moon in Taurus, you are a Virgo Soul, with a
Taurus personality, and your life purpose is:
While the Virgo personality (Sun in Virgo) tends to become obsessed with
physical perfection, your Virgo Soul is concerned with perfection of the Soul,
and knows this is best achieved through true service to others.
The Virgo Soul also knows the true meaning of 'service' rather than 'servitude',
and is more concerned with giving others what they really need, rather than
what they want. You also know that for true healing to happen, the healer
must first and foremost, heal themselves.
The Virgo Soul understands the deeper mysteries of Virgo that are associated
with healing on many levels. Associated with the Mother and the Child, the
Virgo Soul has an innate understanding of Higher Love and specifically how to
flow Love in practical ways, in particular, for healing. The highest vibration of
Virgo understands the deeper power and mystery of healing, by bringing loving
awareness to our physical, emotional and psychological wounds.
Your Virgo Soul knows that discriminating awareness and loving presence are
one and the same. It is this loving presence that is the essence of our Divinity,
and that it permeates all physical forms. At a soul level you know that the only
thing that needs to happen for us to realize our Divinity, is for us to be aware
of our own awareness. It is through our discriminating awareness that
awareness becomes aware of itself, through us. In that moment we realize our
true nature as that of light, and realize our connectedness with all that is. This
is the true nature of healing as your Virgo soul knows: returning to wholeness,
oneness with all that is.
Your Soul Sign is your highest self. It is the energy of pure Divine Love
wanting to be expressed in the world. Creating ways for this expression is
your Life purpose. Your Soul’s light will shine in your life once you release
the habitual patterns, limiting beliefs and behaviors of your lower self (your
personality signs - Sun and Moon). Then the talents and gifts of those signs
will be used by your Virgo Soul for it's highest expression: flowing Divine
Love into the world through you.

From Esoteric Astrology: The Journey Of The Soul by Candy Hillenbrand
The Soul Keynote (from “Esoteric Astrology” by Alice Bailey) is something for
you to contemplate. It has layers of meaning that will be revealed as you
progress along your path. As you return and contemplate it from deeper levels
within your own consciousness you will see new meaning in the words.
"I cannot too strongly reiterate the constant necessity for you to think
in terms of energies and forces, of lines of force,
and energy relationships…
The whole story of astrology is, in reality,
one of magnetic and magical interplay
for the production or externalization of the inner reality…"
The more you contemplate and meditate upon your Soul Keynote,
the more its esoteric (inner) meaning will be revealed to you.
It will awaken your Soul’s resonance.
Whereas Taurus’ opposite pole Scorpio utilizes the power of desire to attain
heightened states of consciousness (the transcendental path), your Scorpio
South node indicates you have already walked this path, over many
lifetimes. Your Taurus North Node is your invitation to break old patterns by
walking the opposite path – the ‘immanent’ path. Immanent Spiritual
traditions are those that encourage you to let go of all desire, including even
the desire for enlightenment, and to recognize the Spiritual Reality in
everyday awareness. Rest in the peace of this present moment.
You needed the wisdom you gained in previous lifetimes in Scorpio, and it is
now time to integrate it, let it go, and keep on walking. It is time to bring
Heaven down to Earth by illuminating your everyday experiences and
realizing the sacredness in all physical forms.
The North Node is known as the ‘path of resistance’ because it doesn’t come
easily. This will be new territory for you, however, Life always brings us
teachers and guides to support us in taking up this new direction. The South
Node is known as the path of least resistance. It indicates a well-worn and
familiar path for you. The only problem with sticking with what is familiar, is
that we never break away from the old habits, and therefore we lose an
opportunity to evolve.
Cardinal energy has a creative quality to it. It is the energy of Spring and creation.
Cardinal signs usher in new ways of doing things, and carve out new pathways. Going
‘where man has never gone before’, exploring new frontiers, being at the forefront of
evolutionary processes is a quality of cardinal consciousness. The challenge for
cardinal signs is they may experience restlessness if they have to stay with one idea,
plan, job or project too long.
Fixed energy has a stabilizing quality to it. It is the energy of Summer: a place-holder
energy that stabilizes forms for the duration of their lifespan. Fixed signs have the
ability to create structures and hold them in place. If water needs to be channeled
from A to B we need a structure, a canal, to get it there. This ability to create
structure, channels, frameworks etc. is a hallmark of fixed consciousness. The
challenge for fixed signs is change, getting stuck in a rut or fixed way of thinking is a
possibility, and stubbornness can be a problem.
Mutable energy has a dissolving, changing, quality to it. Mutable signs are agents of
change. It is the energy of Autumn, as old forms are broken down to release their
energy. Flexibility, changeability, movement and adaptability are qualities of
mutable consciousness. The challenge for mutable signs is to create structure and
stick at something to completion.
With your Sun in the 8th house of personal power and transformation you may find
that you invest much of your prana or life-force energy in situations that bring
personal power into your awareness. This may be situations where you have power
over others, or others have held power over you, causing you to question and
transform the balance of power. Self-empowerment through personal healing and
transformation is likely to be a major theme in your life.
The Moon in your chart shows your emotional world and instincts. It shows how you
react and respond to others, and who you become in relationship. It shows what
you need in order to feel emotionally safe and secure in your world. Having Moon in
Taurus means that being practical and setting secure, tangible, foundations for
yourself, is likely to be very important in order for you to feel emotionally safe and
secure in the world. You bring a reliable, steadfast quality to whatever you do.
Earth signs are all about Mastery of physical resources, and fixed energy brings
stability so it is important to you to make sure that practical resources are available
and are used wisely. You will work hard and steadily to ensure you have a secure
home base and financial security for yourself because this is the emotional
foundation in your life. The Moon is said to be ‘exalted’ in Taurus, which means it is
at it’s most magnetically attractive. It is said to be especially favorable for
attracting what you need in terms of finances and your overall material security.
With your Moon in the 8th house of transformation you probably experience your
emotions very deeply, and feel a great deal of emotional safety and security when you
are able to create time and space to fully experience and process what you are
feeling. With the Moon in this position your personal journey of healing and
transformation is experienced through your emotional world, whereby you are
learning about how to navigate through different emotional frequencies, and how the
power of your own self-awareness can transform fear-based emotions into higher
spiritual energies such as love.
Having Sun and Moon (and Mars and your lunar North Node) in the 8th house means
that healing and transformation through self-empowerment and the right use of
power, are likely to be major themes throughout your life.
The lower octave of any sign is fear-based, the higher octave is love-based. It is
important for you to understand the lower fear-based vibrations of Taurus, and to
know that the key to moving into the higher octave of each lies in accessing the
energy of your opposite sign, Scorpio, and then fully integrating these energies. This
then creates a clear ‘lens’ through which your Soul-light of Virgo can freely flow Divine
love into the world, through you.
As the fixed earth sign Taurus brings a reliable, steadfast quality to whatever you do.
Earth signs are all about Mastery of physical resources, and fixed energy brings
stability so it is important to you to make sure that practical resources are available
and are used wisely to support you and your family. You will work hard and steadily to
ensure you have a secure home base and financial security. The deeper you can
anchor your roots into the earth, the higher your Soul can soar and grow.
Your Virgo Soul knows that the purpose of your work is to flow love in action for the
benefit of Mother Earth and all her creatures. The word “vocation” comes from the
Latin verb “vocare” meaning “to call”. Your Virgo Soul hears your true spiritual calling,
and is ready, able, and willing to serve. Your Soul knows your true spiritual power and
purpose and is willing to pour forth your energy in the service of the Light. Your lunar
North Node in Taurus is supporting you in aligning with your Virgo Soul, by giving you
an opportunity to use your physical senses to experience the practical reality of how
Divine love can flow through your body, and be felt and experienced on a physical
level.
The highest octave of Taurus recognizes spirit in matter and knows that all physical
forms carry light and are sacred. You have an innate sense of beauty and love to
surround yourself with beautiful people and things. Being in nature or a beautiful
garden brings you a deep sense of peace and connection. The ego-trap for Sun in
Taurus is to seek peace only in your physical surroundings. With Moon in Taurus there
may also be a tendency to seek security through emotional attachments to your
beautiful surroundings (home, garden, family, artwork). This keeps your attention on
the outer world of work and gaining financial security, which may distract you from
your Soul journey. Once you are ‘comfortable’ in practical terms there can be a
tendency to relax, kick back, and think your ‘work’ is done. Yet your beautiful home
and financial security are really only the base – the foundation that supports you as
you explore your spiritual path. All impermanent things can be lost, leaving you
feeling insecure again. The solution is to keep your attention on your inner world,
cultivate your inner spiritual connection, and stay deeply connected with the innate
peace that is within you. Then you can be at peace within yourself, in any situation,
and through deep exploration realize the Divinity in all physical forms.
Esoterically it is thought that the Moon indicates your most recent past life, and that
With Moon in Taurus this ‘wound’ may show up as excessive attachment and a
possibly irrational fear of losing money and/or possessions, which may cause you to
hoard things. If you have a tendency in this area it is important to bring gentle,
loving awareness to it and gently release attachment. This doesn’t mean to give
away your things (which may cause unnecessary anxiety) but rather to see (and
feel) the difference between having things and being attached, vs. having things
and not being attached. It is not money or things in themselves that are at issue,
but rather the attachment to them, that can be a cause of suffering. When you
release attachment you find you can have your possessions and enjoy them, while
also enjoying a greater sense of emotional freedom.
From this higher perspective all the gifts and talents of Taurus are then used by
your Virgo Soul to create your very own unique individual expression, of Virgo’s
highest purpose: flowing pure love into the planet in ways that benefit the whole of
Mother Earth and all her creatures (including us)!
Mauricio your Virgo Soul has chosen the perfect combination in your
Taurus personality to allow you to flow Divine Love into this world through
your work. You do this by releasing personal attachment so you can use
your physical and material resources to build a foundation for peace,
Divine Love, and enlightenment on the planet.

Going Deeper:
This is a short report based on your Sun, Moon and Rising Sign, which serves
as a basis for understanding the principles of applying your Soul Path Astrology
to your real-life situations. If you are interested in exploring this further, I offer
a 30-minute consultation called “Your Life’s Journey” as a perfect complement
to this report. In this consultation we explore your life path and your Soul’s
unique journey in this lifetime, as expressed through the energies of your Sun
and Moon signs.
Learn more about the habitual behavior patterns of your Sun and
Moon signs, how they can keep you stuck in the lowest expression of your
self, and start work on changing them, so you can live fully in the highest
expression of your Self: in full alignment with your Soul’s expression and
your life purpose.

Do one thing in the awareness of your Soul Sign and Life Purpose
and watch what happens differently for you. For example the next
time you talk to a family member or friend, or the next time you connect
with someone through email, pay attention to your physical body and sense
how your energy is flowing.
This powerful fieldwork was suggested by Intuitive Coach Anya Sophia Mann.
She offers coaching to support you in living your highest expression at
http://www.AnyaSophiaMann.com
Our work in this lifetime is to release the identification with these behaviors. This
doesn’t mean losing our personality. It means recognizing who we really are: our
Soul. Then working to become Soul-Centered so that we may live the highest
expression of that.
We do this by first of all identifying the highest octave/ expression of our Soul Sign,
and then looking to where that shows up in our life. Then explore ways we can be
more of that: bringing more of our Soul’s expression forward into the world. This is
where our creativity comes in. All of our inventiveness and inspiration comes from our
Soul.
Next we look at where the fears and lower octaves of our personality signs may be
distracting us, and even sabotaging our efforts. For example if we have Moon in Pisces
do we allow ourselves to be paralyzed by irrational fears and negativity? Or if we have
Sun in Aries do we really believe we are surrounded by fools who are blocking our
progress? Discovering and standing in our Soul-light can really help us to shift some
of the deeply-entrenched limiting beliefs and behavior patterns of our personality.
In the case of our Sun Sign, while it is never easy to challenge habits – especially
ones reinforced by strong ego-identification – it is made somewhat easier by the fact
that these qualities are “out in the open.” It makes it easy to see what we are working
with. Our moon sign is somewhat more of a challenge!
Once this is achieved we will then (in addition to expressing our highest Soul-Light)
also be able to realize the highest expression of our Sun and Moon signs. We will
utilize the gifts and talents wrapped up in our Sun/Moon ‘package’ in the fullest
expression of our Soul’s work.
Once we are fully Soul–centered we do not lose the talents inherent in our personality
signs: we don’t stop thinking, feeling, acting and/or organizing physical resources;
rather these activities become an integral expression of our Soul-light.

During this period it is an ideal time to meditate upon the Soul qualities of each sign.
We are all bathed with these benefic energies each month, and can make use of them
to advance our personal and spiritual development. They are here for the purpose of
our collective evolution, to prepare us as we advance into the Aquarian Age.
As we go through each Full Sun-Moon cycle, it would be of the greatest benefit for us
each to meditate upon the highest octave of the current sign and to aspire to bring
that expression into the world through and for ourselves.
Now you know how you can use the information about your Soul Sign and your
Personality Signs, and how to relate that to the monthly Sun-Moon signs, to further
your personal and spiritual growth. What matters most is where you place your
attention: on your Soul’s highest expression.
