CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

The content of this study composed of different procedures to come up with a

list of common challenges experienced by the faculties of ESSU. The gathered data

is measured to a degree that makes the research study relevant and can be

considered as a valid guide on understanding and solving different aspects of FL

modality. On this phase, the elaboration of the research elements and data

manipulation took the lead.

Research Design

The study utilized a descriptive approach in setting up its research objectives.

The perseverance of the faculty is related to the challenges affecting the

performance of each faculty in relation to the implementation of FL modalities.

Research Instrument

The study formulated a survey questionnaire to gather information regarding

different challenges in the process of implementing the FL modalities in ESSU Main

campus.

The first part of the questionnaire is the challenges faced by the faculty

members on delivery of flexible learning modality. These are the following questions

present in the questionnaire: (a) In this new normal, what challenges are you

experiencing in terms of (preparation of modules, distribution of modules, monitoring

of students’ learning, retrieval of modules, and checking and evaluating students’

answers in the modules?).

The second part of the questionnaire is the perseverance of the faculty

members on delivery of the FL modalities. These are the following questions present

in the second part of the questionnaire: (b) What are your solutions on these types of
challenges? (preparation of modules, distribution of modules, monitoring of students’

learning, retrieval of modules, and checking and evaluating students’ answers in the

modules?). The above categories are directly based on the journal entitled: Modular

Distance modality: Challenges of teachers in teaching amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is in courtesy to the category distribution of Michelle Acala.

Research Locale

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the research production setting is virtual and

all process of gathering information is active online. However, the scope of the

research topic is solely inside the corners of ESSU Main campus, which involved its

faculty members and the whole school administration.

Research sampling process

The total population of the potential respondents is thirty (30) and the

research team have formulated the number of respondents by the total number of

ESSU faculties. This is to widen the scope of the sample, making the research more

accurate and integral. All the ESSU faculties will be given survey questionnaire

through online distribution. After coming up with the best possible route of the

research procedure, the commencement of the distribution is started.

Research analysis

After the distribution of the questionnaire, and the potential approval of the

school institution, considerations follows, adhering to the main and specific

objectives. Several calculations and tallies are then connected to organize the papers

and extend the distribution clearly.
