Performance Task 1

"Art is anything someone perceives as art"

This term is a little strange, but it does imply that there is at least one human being who engages in
interaction with it. it in some way which makes this definition include artworks that aren't made but
looked at like something in nature or art that is made but never shown to anyone or that even left the
artist's mind at all. it also makes this definition include artworks that aren't made but looked at like
something in nature. Although it is questionable whether or not this is a valid argument to make, I
believe that there would be no such thing as art if humans did not exist.

“Art is the only way to run away without leaving home” - Twyla Tharp
This witty remark made by Tharp addresses one of the most significant aspects of creativity as well as
the reasons why education should place a strong emphasis on this subject. It alludes to freedom,
inventiveness, and independence, but art is so much more than that; it entails self-expression, visual
thinking, observation, talent, and problem-solving, to mention a few of its many attributes.

“Art completes what nature cannot bring to a finish. The artist gives un knowledge of nature’s
unrealized ends.”- Aristotle
When it comes to art, nothing is out of reach since the saying "Art completes what nature cannot bring
to end." encapsulates this sentiment well. Because you are able to communicate your thoughts, feelings,
and emotions. And nature will be of no use to you in this regard. What is meant to be conveyed by the
phrase "The artist provides us knowledge of nature's unmet aims" is that nature has a very wide scope.
However, you are able to discern those things that nature could never, ever show you when you
communicate how you feel.
Performance Task 2

Type of Art Expression Example

1. Visual Art Spoliarium by Juan Luna

Juan Luna, a well-known Filipino artist, used oil paint on

canvas to create this work of art. At Madrid's Exhibition
National de Bellas Artes in 1884, Luna finished the painting
in eight months and received its first gold medal (out of
three to be awarded). Since it is a significant work of art
and because of its brilliance and magnificence, Luna's
Spoliarium will always be considered one of the Philippines'
most spectacular cultural treasures. In the eyes of true
Filipinos, it is a watershed moment that solidifies our
reputation as a country that preys on the gullible. The
Spoliarium is a work of art that Filipinos should be proud
of.

2. Film The Notebook (2004)

The most crucial idea is that love triumphs above

everything else. In spite of the fact that this concept is, on
sometimes, used to excess, it serves as the primary focus of
this specific piece of writing. Despite the numerous
obstacles that Allie and Noah had to overcome, their love
drew them back together time and time again. A narrative
about such genuine affection might have a long-lasting
impact on today's youth since it serves as a role model for
them at a time when they are so disoriented about life. The
movie comes to an end in a way that is both heartfelt and
joyful, and it also accomplishes its goal of conveying the
idea that no matter how insanely bizarre the experience of
Type of Art Expression Example

love may be, it always leaves behind a profound awareness

of life's deeper meaning.

3. Performance Art Guerilla Girls

Guerrilla Girls © Lois Greenfield

The feminist-oriented organization has operated in

obscurity behind gorilla masks since the 1980s to campaign
for equality in the art industry. The group originally
attracted the art world's notice with a guerrilla campaign
plastering Manhattan with posters denouncing MoMA's
1984 International Survey of Recent Painting and Sculpture,
when just 13 of 165 artists were women. Their
incorporation of political messages into performance blurs
the boundary between contemporary art collectives and
Green Peace.

4. Poetry Performance “FIGHT FOR LOVE” BY ANDREA GIBSON

“Thank you for telling me there’s no need

to open our relationship because being with me
is already like being with fifty
impossible people. Thank you for accepting
my friend request for the fifth time this year.
Thank you for screaming
all the way home from that straight bar
to the bed where our bodies made up
while the full moon flew through the window,
and a firefly poured into the room

and landed in your hand, which you opened

like a ring box, and asked me to marry you,
and we were so new, I blushed
instead of answered.
But a firefly is forever and you know what my answer is.
A firefly is forever. And you know what my answer is.”

5. Architectures Renaissance

Architecture in Europe that was created during the early

15th and early 17th centuries is known as Renaissance
architecture. It exhibits an intentional rebirth and
development of some components of classical ideas and
material culture, notably symmetry and classical ordering.
This is particularly evident in the case of symmetry. The use
of the classical orders, the application of mathematically
accurate ratios of height and breadth, symmetry, balance,
and harmony are some of the most prominent
characteristics of Renaissance architecture.

6. Dance "Pandanggo sa ilaw”

The rural parts of the Philippines have helped to popularize

the traditional dance known as pandanggo, which may be
found throughout the Philippines. The dance originated
from the Fandango, a popular folk dance in Spain that was
brought to the Philippines during the country's time under
Hispanic rule. Castanets are used as an accompaniment for
the dance. This dance, along with the Jota, first gained

popularity among the illustrados, also known as the upper

class, and was afterwards adopted by the community at
large. At the beginning of the 18th century, the name
"Pandanggo" was given to any dance that was thought to
be merry and energetic.

7. Literary Art The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown

When I noticed that this was an option on the list, I

immediately knew that the movie The Da Vinci Code had to
be the one I chose to write about since I had previously
read the book when it was originally published and was
fascinated by the theological themes that Dan Brown
presented in it. It is crucial to note that the movie was
highly faithful to the spirit of the book, which means that
all of the key themes were still there, and the character
likenesses were consistent with the original author's goal.
This was achieved by being very close to the spirit of the
novel.

8. Theater Iphigenia in Splott (2015)

ary-owen/

Gary Owen's report from modern-day Cardiff was inspired

by Euripides' play Iphigenia in Aulis and depicted one of
many British towns on the verge of collapse, torn apart by
divides and gravely wounded by austerity. One of the most
memorable characters of this century so far was formed in
Type of Art Expression Example

the sacrificing Effie who lives life at a million miles an hour

and gives the audience the finger, but she conceals a
heart-bursting generosity. Before long, Owen's monologue
will leave you feeling like you've had the worst hangover of
your life.

9. Applied Art Ceramic art pottery

Ceramic art Clay is used to create works of art such as tiles,

figures, and tableware that fall under the category of
pottery. While some of these same materials are
considered to be works of fine art, others are considered to
be works of decorative or applied art. They are always
completed by a group of individuals who are well-versed in
the art of pottery and possess the necessary abilities. The
existence of a lengthy history of ceramic art that has been
portrayed in the majority of developed societies may be
deduced from the artifacts that have been preserved from
the ancient times. The tradition of making ceramic art
extends back more than two millennia, and the Greeks,
Japanese, Persians, and Chinese are among the civilizations
that have been documented as having participated in the
endeavor.
Performance task 3
After watching, answer the following:
1. Write your insights about the video by sharing your realizations and new learnings
❖ As I was watching the video it clicked to me that art is not nature, because art is created
by man, and through that the man’s interpretation of emotions perceived by him as art
has been created by people at all times, because art requires an emotion to express and
to experience the beauty it provides. Thats what i learned after watching and this
learning opened my imagination and creative thinking as well.
2. Choose one artist featured in the video who inspired you the most. Share the reason by
explaining what he/she said/did that appealed to you to your senses the most.
❖ The artist who not only inspired me the most, but made me proud to be a Filipino. Levi
Celerio who made art by the object found in nature to really help us understand that art
is created by man, but it can be found anywhere. The fact that he was recognized by the
Guiness Book of Worl Record as the only person who can create music with leaves,
makes me proud to be a Filipino and it reminds me of the talent we all have and that we
just really have to use our imagination and find purpose to what we can feel as art.
3. Research further on your chosen artist in item #2 select ONE of his/her masterpiece and answer
the following:
a. What is the form chosen masterpiece?
❖ A leaf was used to deliver music- to me that alone sounds like nature singing to
me. Levi Celerio started this with nature doing its job, and the mind using that
for imagination and creative purposes to deliver something beautiful.
b. What made you pick this particular masterpiece?
❖ It is a remarkable way to express music, how does a mind be able to deliver
music with the help of nature? This masterpiece allows us to have a sense of
what music is like when the world is silent- and we only hear the trees and the
wind. The idea and emotion used to express Levi Celerio’s talent requires a
person to truly use their senses and imagination.
c. In your opinion, is the chosen masterpiece directly functional or indirectly functional?
❖ To me art always has a function, art is not only for looking or listening to, but it
also used to perceive something greater than our 5 senses. The use of leaves to
create music has a purpose for us viewers, this is to remind us that nature can
also produce art, and that we should appreciate it as if we can feel the earth
singing to us.
d. can we categorize the function of the chosen masterpiece as personal, social, or physical
or combination?
❖ For me this depends on how a person perceives a masterpiece. We all different
ways of thinking, this could depend on the personal issues that can conflict with
physical issues that one person can perceive or it can be one or the other. Art is
a recording of human experience and that is subjective to oneself. So the way i
view the function of the art is definitely personal- as it gives me a silent peaceful
way to distract myself from the physical aspects of the world.
Performance Task 4
Part A
1. Nominate one filipino artist for the Order of the National Artist recognition. He or She may be
identified with any art
❖ Fernando Amorsolo (Painter)

❖ Afternoon Meal of the Workers (Noonday Meal of the Rice Workers)

2. Research about the artist’s background and justify why they deserve to be a national artist.
❖ He is most recognized for his illuminating landscapes depicting Filipino cultures, fiestas,
and jobs in a variety of settings. They were crucial in the development of Filipino
national identity, and his pastoral works conveyed "an imagined feeling of nationhood in
opposition to American colonial control." When faced with great personal sorrow, he
opted to focus on the bright aspects of life and express them through his art. The most
praised and the most criticized feature of his work has been this choice.
Part B
1. Watch the short film, of the Filipino director Mr. Jerrold Tarog
2. What is the subject & content of the film? Was the message conveyed to the viewers? Was the
filmmaker successful in sending across the message?
❖ The content of the film strikes us with political relevance, the content of the film is that
activist educators are frequently attacked and fired from their jobs because of the
controversial techniques and teachings they use. The focus of the debate is ideology and
the methods and techniques for influencing the minds of progressives. At least for Tarog,
education is a beginning point if you want to attempt to influence a culture at all. I
absolutely agree. We can all learn from Tarog's example if he can achieve consciousness
in only seven minutes.
3. Critique the short film in terms idf storylines, acting, direction, cinematography, and social
relevance?
❖ The screenplay is well-written on a dramatic level. Both Joan and Ria's personalities, opinions,
and history are brilliantly portrayed in a brief exchange of words. It seems plausible. While not
very noteworthy, the film's cinematography is done well. It's a critical topic, but it's presented in
an interesting way. Seeing this video is the only way to really comprehend the inescapable
nature of our situation. The situation, despite this belief, does not seem hopeless to me.
Performance Task 5
1. What is “courage”? Provide your own explantion by expressing it one paragraph that is coming
from your heart.
❖ It takes a lot of courage to go over your concerns and accomplish what you set out to do.
Fear is something that can be found in every single one of us. There is no such thing as a
fearless hero or other heroic person since no one is immune to fear. It is not necessary to
lack fear in order to be brave; rather, one just has to be able to ignore or triumph over
their phobias in order to exhibit this admirable characteristic. There is always the
potential for danger when one faces their anxieties and deviates from the accepted
norm.
2. How do you find the two-point-of-voews style of the writer of “Geyluv” do you find it fascinating
or confusing looking simultaneously into the minds of the two main characters?
a. How would you end the story if you were the writer?
❖ In Geyluv, two guys with contrasting sexual orientations fall in love. His close
buddy Mike is straight, but Benjie, a homosexual guy, falls head over heels in
love with him. An emotional flashback shows how Mike and Benjie first became
friends and eventually fell in love. It's important to note that the narrative is told
from the perspective of two men, one of whom is heterosexual, and the other is
homosexual. In doing so, it provides light on their sentiments and thoughts as
they connect with one another. It gives us insight into how these two individuals
feel about one another and the nature of their bond. The story's structure is
rather convoluted due to the story's frequent shifts in point of view, from Mike's
viewpoint to Benjie's, and vice versa Everything in the narrative is perfect to me
and I wouldn't alter a thing about it.
Performance Task 6
1. Which of the art movements in Western Europe you like the most? Why?
❖ The Gothic era is characterized by its emphasis on height and light; in spite of the fact
that they are built from weighty stone, Gothic cathedrals give the appearance of defying
the laws of gravity. Typical characteristics include pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and
flying buttresses, all of which contributed to the constructions' ability to be constructed
at greater heights and with greater structural integrity.
❖ Browse artworks (any form or medium) produced in your chosen art movement in item
1. Select the one which you fancy the most
➢ Notre Dame [notru dam] Cathedral in Paris
I’ve always wanted to visit Paris one day, just to see this beauty infront of me. The delicate but
loud symbolism of the architecture gives me quite a sense on what life used to be during that time. I also
love the circle windows symmetrically aligned to one another, the placement also tells us that this
building is built with precision and passion. A truly remarkable artpiece I would want to one day see.
Performance Task 7

1. Share your key takeaways and insights on this subject?

- This subject allowed me to be creative and imaginative in my own world.
As well as this is the only subject where i dont feel like I have so much
pressure trying to be a Nurse. I also got to appreciate art in a different
way- more personal now. I came to understand that the process of
producing and appreciating art is based on a set of fundamental
components and concepts. The components that make up these
elements are: line, shape, form, volume, mass, value, space, color, time,
and motion. The elements that make up these principles include contrast,
variety, balance, size, proportion, emphasis, focal point, pattern, rhythm,
content, and analysis. First things first, I needed to figure out what makes
anything considered art. I came to the conclusion that there is no one,
all-encompassing definition of art. Art may be defined as the imaginative
or creative interpretation of an art creation by an artist. I don 't quite
understand it all totally, but I have gained a great appreciation for the
labor that goes into creating a piece of art.
2. Share your suggestions that you wish to incorporate into the delivery of this
subject next year?
- Lastly, the course subject sets its own purpose. At the end of each
chapter, evaluation activities are given to enhance the cognitive learning
of the students. Suggested enrichment exercises are also provided to
make art appreciation more interesting, meaningful, and enjoyable. I
think a group work that allows students to communicate to other
students about their understanding of a specific art and contrast it
together. I found that nursing students tend to also work great as a team-
and maybe just a suggestion it would be great to have a composition of
an art using the form of teamwork.
