Dear Sir,
Subject: Poor Environmental Monitoring of Gohagoda Road Existing Pipe Damages
(Harispattuwa DS)
This refers to your letter RSC-C/Kandy-North/03-B/9298/2021-3018 dated on 16th June 2021 on the
above subject.
As you well aware that even though we have carried out the trial pits before the pipe laying work, it is
very difficult to mitigate the possible damages to the existing utilities. During the pipe laying work on
4th June 2021, existing house connection was damaged in Gohagoda road and respective 150mm
valve was closed at 10.30 a.m for the repair work. After completion of repair, valve was opened.
Following day we receive a complaint at 7.26 a.m regarding the non-availability of water in some
areas. Immediately we attended to that and checked the relevant valve again. This time valve was at
closed position and opened the valve at 7.50 a.m.
As per our records valve in closed position less than a day. Once receive the complaint, we attended
to that less than half an hour. Anyhow we apologize for all the consumers who affected due to the
non-availability of water. However once we notice any complain we have attended without any delay.
Hence we strongly believe that this incident was happened due to the poor communication among the
related parties. However after this incident we discussed with the PMU and filled the communication
gap between both parties specially contractor and the O&M.
Finally we kindly request you not to deduct the payment from our IPC for this incident. We will take
necessary arrangement not to happen this kind of incident in future.
