non-aircraft tubes have valve stems that are not compatable with aircraft wheels. Aircraft

the brake pedal geometry to have a 2
to 1 ratio of pedal travel to brake

Available Options
Painting — If you desire to paint your gear, we recommend that you use a
good epoxy primer such as RAND-O-PLATE or EPIBOND. Finish with
either epoxy or polyurethane paint.
Powder Coating — You can powder coat the gear. However, care must
be taken during the process to to keep the temperature below 375ºF
in order to not affect the heat treatment.

This is where the brake line from the
master brake cylinder attaches to the
landing gear brake line. Tell us when
ordering whether you want it to come
out the front, rear, top or bottom of the
gear, and the distance from the
centerline of the gear.
The inlet hole is finished to your specifications.
Typically we tap this to accept a 1/8" NPT fitting.
When ordering, please specify the finish you
desire: 1/8" NPT, no thread, or other.
Grooved Trailing
Grove Aircraft also offers the option of grooved
Edges trailing edges. This groove provides a protective
channel in which you can place your brake line.

Material Width and Thickness: We use aircraft grade 2024 or 7075 aluminum, heat
treated to T6 specifications, for most light aircraft applications. The width and
thickness of the material determines the spring rate and ultimate strength. It is
important that these values be properly chosen. If you are retro-fitting or replacing
gear to fit an existing dimension, please give us that information. Otherwise we
will recommend material width and thickness appropriate to your aircraft based on
its gross weight, wing loading, and gear geometry.
Flat Width: This is the upper flat portion of the gear, measured from inboard edge of
the upper bend radius to the inboard edge of the other upper bend radius. Typically
this is the distance between the outside of the longerons where the gear attaches to
the fuselage.
Overall Width: This is the overall outside gear width unloaded (not installed on the
aircraft). We can give you an approximate overall dimension with the aircraft at full
gross weight if you wish.
Height to Axle CL: This is the distance measured vertically from the top of the landing
gear to the center of the axle. This is also measured in the “unloaded” condition
and will decrease slightly with aircraft loading. We can also give you an approxi-
mate value for this at full gross weight.
Camber: This is the angle between the lower gear leg and vertical. This angle is built
into the gear so that at full gross weight, the camber is approximately zero degrees.
If you know what value you desire, let us know. Otherwise we will compute the
proper camber for your gear based on material width and thickness, gear geometry,
and aircraft weight.
Axle Holes: Do you want us to drill holes for your axles, or do you want to do that
yourself? We can drill axle holes for most popular axles, or not at all—just let us
know.
Trailing Edge Grooved Brake Lines: We can groove the trailing edge of the gear
leg to accept the brake line. This is a convenient way to incorporate the brake line
into the gear itself.
Gundrilled Brake Lines: A popular option is to drill a hole through the interior of the
landing gear which acts as the brake line. The increased aesthetic and protective
values are a good investment. This option virtually eliminates any risk of damage
to the brake line between the fuselage and the wheel area.

Custom landing gear orders require full payment with order. No C.O.D.s
Stock items can be paid prior to shipment or shipped C.O.D. Credit card
orders are charged in full at time of order.
Shipping
All products are shipped F.O.B. Grove Aircraft, El Cajon, CA. Actual
shipping charges will be added to all orders. We do not charge a han-
dling fee for normal packing, crating, etc. Our normal method of ship-
ment is surface UPS. If you desire another method, advise us when
