REPUBLIC ACT 10157

AN ACT INSTITUTIONALIZING THE KINDERGARTEN EDUCATION INTO THE BASIC

EDUCATION SYSTEM AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

Kindergarten is widely regarded as the gateway to formal education. It is

an important stage in a child's development because it is the time when their

mind is most active and appears to be like a sponge that easily absorbs any

information fed to them. As a result, it is critical to strengthen and invest in this

fundamental and necessary foundation of learning in order to better prepare

children for a more demanding school setting.

This act emphasizes the use of Mother Tongue or the native language in

the community, which will greatly assist teachers and students in understanding

the lesson because our kindergarten students frequently communicate in their

native language. In my experience teaching grade 3 students where MTB-MLE

was also introduced, I can really say that my students understand me better

when I speak in their native language. There is even more interaction between
my students. Through RA 10157, it is a way to help improve our basic education

in the Philippines. Because, despite the fact that problems and difficulties

continue to threaten the quality of our educational system, it is past time to

make room for this major change in the system.
