1) What have you learned from the course that may benefit your future
profession? (general idea about the course).

With my future career orientation as a tour guide, I feel that intercultural

communication is a very useful subject for me. First, this subject helps me expand
my knowledge of the communication skills of countries around the world. From
the theoretical foundations of researchers like Edward Hall, Hostede, etc,... helped
me learn about new definitions of culture. In addition, I can apply it directly to real
life. More specifically, when I go to different countries around the world in the
future, I will quickly integrate into the culture and know how to adjust my behavior
to suit the standards of each country, and culture shock will be limited to myself. If
I am lucky enough to work for a multinational company in the future, I will know
how to connect with the people around me in the best way. If I go out to eat with
people from different countries, I know how to prepare the right eating utensils for
them. I will also learn how to choose the right gifts for colleagues in other
countries. More importantly, through this course, I also know the weak points or
bad points so that I can limit my encounters. For example, when working in a
group, the attitude and working style of the team leader should be friendly and
receptive to the members' suggestions. It is necessary to refrain from being
conservative and showing an inappropriate attitude towards people.

2)Which presentation do you like most (except your group presentation)?

Provide some reasons to clarify your choice. (attendance and attention in class).

In this course, I have enjoyed excellent presentations by groups. I sensed that

everyone was well prepared to give their presentation. From the accompanying
content, images, videos, and presentation, I feel very excited. Choosing a
presentation that I like the most for me is very difficult, because every presentation
for me has its own highlights. But the presentation that left the most impression on
me was the presentation of group Fourteen. The first was about the content of the
presentation. During group 14's presentation, I watched and listened closely. But
the part that has left me with the most interesting and useful knowledge is the three
psychological stages of a person when going abroad. The first stage is excitement.
The next stage is fear. The final stage is adaptation. At these stages, group
Fourteen spoke in a very detailed and understandable way. In addition, the group
also provided supporting evidence. That's why some knowledge has remained in
me and made me remember. Next is the PowerPoint part. It is really lively and
outstanding. In addition, the images and videos attached to the presentation are
very relevant to the topic and greatly help the audience understand the meaning of
each piece of content more deeply. I think group Fourteen will have to spend a lot
of time to find such quality pictures and videos. Moreover, the team members
completed the presentation perfectly. The group members all presented very
fluently and smoothly. They convey content and messages in an easy-to-
understand way. Through the presentation of group Fourteen, I can see the effort
and commitment of each member.

3) What did you find interesting from the cultural features? Why? (deep
understanding about an aspect of culture).

Culture is the salient feature of each country. It is formed and developed in parallel
with the development of history. Therefore, each country will have its own
distinctive features. In this course, I learned and learned about the cultures of many
countries, which made me very interested. Each chapter in this course is a new
topic for me. All in all, I've enjoyed all the things I've learned through this course.
More specifically, in each different country, there is a unique way of greeting. For
example, in most countries, when meeting each other, they will shake hands. Some
countries in Europe will greet you by kissing on the cheek. Some religious
countries, such as India, Laos, and Thailand, will greet by clasping hands and
slightly bowing. Moreover, the dishes in each country are also cultural features,
and the way they eat will reflect the traditions of that country. For example, in
India, people use their hands to pick up food. But the special point is that they use
the first knuckles of their fingers to peel the food, and the food does not touch the
palm. In this course, the most impressive and memorable thing to me is the gift-
giving culture in different countries. In each country, there will be different ways
of choosing gifts and occasions for giving. Personal space is also an important
thing when communicating. You should adjust the distance between yourself and
the opposite person so that it is really suitable, thereby creating a comfortable
space for you and the people around you.
