1. How did you have the idea of going to Taiwan to study?

I came to study in Taiwan because I want to study abroad. Also, my parents
want me, my sister and my brother to study in Taiwan because they want us to get
a new life experiences, new friends and learning new cultures. I also want to meet
new people and learning Chinese language.

2. Are there any things that make you uneasy before you study?
Yes, there is something make me uncomfortable. I have studied abroad in
Panama before I came here but it is different from Taiwan. I have to stay in the
school dorm, but I’ve never stay in the dorm before, so I need to adapt to it and it
take me 1 month to be used to it. Also, my English is not good, so I need to
practice my English too.

3. What frustrations have you encountered in the process of studying in Taiwan?

How do you overcome it?
My frustration in studying is the systems of university are different from the
system of high school. In high school, the teacher always helps and take care of
us because we are still young but in university, I have to be responsible and take
care of myself. The things that I do to overcome this problem is being more
responsible and I always concern that I’m old enough to take care of myself.

4. What is the biggest feeling after coming to study in Taiwan?

At first, I feel uncomfortable because everything is different from my country.
After I can adapt to the culture here, I feel so happy to be here. I have a lot of new
friends from many countries, I learn and know about others country and their
personality, I also try a lot of Taiwan food that is so different from Thailand and I
like it.

5. What is your family’s attitude before you study abroad?

My family have a very positive attitude about study abroad and they want their
children to study abroad. My parents told me that study abroad is a good
experience in life, and you can learn many new things from this. The one thing
they told me, and I really like is that when I study abroad, I will get a new
language and improve my English language.

6. What role does the family play during your study abroad?
They are supporting me to finish the bachelor by sending me a money for my
daily life and tuition fee. when I have a problem, they always give me an advice
and help me to overcome the problem.

7. What kind of expectations does the family have for you after returning home?
I’m not sure what they are expecting from me, but I think they want to see me
grow up and have more responsibility. They also want me to have knowledge of
business for my future career.

8. Is there any change in the thoughts or values of the experience of studying in

Taiwan?
Yes, I do. After I stay here for 3 months, I know that the way I think in
everything is change. I am more open-minded, think more carefully before doing
something and more positive. The most important thing is I know experience is
the thing you can’t find from book or study; you have to find it by trying to do a
new thing and don’t waste your opportunity to talk with others people.

9. Do you have any encouragement or suggestions for those students who are
interested in coming to Taiwan in the future?
I will suggest them to prepare themselves and be ready to learn a new culture.
They should study carefully about Taiwan and know some Chinese language. The
most important thing is they should be open-minded so they will have more
friends, learn a lot of new things and get a good opportunity for the future.

10. Do you have any advice give to the universities and governments in Taiwan
after you come to Taiwan?
I don’t have that much advice for them because I think it’s already good in
everything. There is only one thing I want to suggest them is they should have
more department that teach in English so the foreign student will have more
choices to pick.

II. Please introduce a feature of your hometown. (It can be a festival, a

special food, a unique culture and so on.) Introduce clearly let us know you
and your hometown. (You can draw it or give us some pictures, any ways to
let us understand are allowed.)

I want to introduce about some Thai traditional food that I like in my birth city
and the city I live in. I live in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, but I was
born in Udon-Thani, The north-east of Thailand. In Bangkok, the traditional food
is Pad-Thai. It is a very well-known food in Thailand, and I think many foreigners
know Pad-Thai. The ingredients that they use to make Pad-Thai are noodle, meat
(pork, chicken, shrimp), egg, tofu, beansprout, peanut, Pad-Thai sauce and some
vegetable. The taste of Pad-Thai is mellow and full of flavor which make it easy
for foreigners to eat and like it. I also eat Pai-Thai in my daily life, and I want
everyone to try it too.
The next food I want to present is my traditional birth city food. It’s called
“Somtam” in Thai or you can call it “Papaya Salad” in English. It is one of my
favorite food. Every time I go back to Udon-Thani (My Birth city), I will eat
Somtam in my favorite restaurants. It is made from raw papaya, tomato, peanut,
carrot, cowpea and special sauce (This is the ingredient that make it special). The
taste of Somtam is depend on what sauce they put but I will explain the taste of
the one in the picture. It’s called “Somtam Thai” the taste is sweet and a bit of
sour which make it easy for foreigner to eat. There are many foreigners who like
Somtam and it is one of the most popular food in Thailand and I want everyone to
try.
