THE CHRISTMAS BASKET BOOK REVIEW

THE AUTHOR:

Debbie Macomber is born on October 22, 1948 in Yakima,

Washington. She is an American author of romance novels and
contemporary women's fiction. Six of her novels have become made-
for-TV movies and her Cedar Cove series of novel was adapted into
the television series of the same name.  Macomber was the inaugural
winner of the fan-voted Quill Award for romance in 2005 and has
been awarded both a RITA Award and a lifetime achievement award by the Romance Writers of
America. She has published over 150 novels, most of which are romance novels.

Debbie Macomber, the author of WINDOW ON THE BAY, COTTAGE BY THE SEA, ANY
DREAM WILL DO, IF NOT FOR YOU and the Rose Harbor Inn series, is a leading voice in
women's fiction. Thirteen of her novels have reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller
list, and five of her beloved Christmas novels have been hit movies on the Hallmark
Channel, including Mrs. Miracle and Mr. Miracle. Hallmark Channel also produced the original
series "Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove," based on Macomber's Cedar Cove books. She is
also the author of the cookbook DEBBIE MACOMBER'S TABLE. There are more than 200
million copies of her books in print worldwide.

Twenty-eight-year-old workaholic Noelle McDowell takes a rare vacation from her

high-powered computer company in Dallas to come home to small town Rose,
Oregon, for the holidays and help plan her sister's wedding. Noelle hasn't been to
Rose in 10 years—ever since her high school sweetheart jilted her. Theirs was a
secret romance because their mothers, one-time best friends, had long been
engaged in a bitter feud that began when Sarah McDowell borrowed Mary
Sutton's antique tea service and never returned it. A silly popcorn-throwing
incident at the movies brings Noelle and her ex, Thom—now a handsome
executive at a prosperous startup—together again. They discover they're still in
love. But will their warring families ruin their second chance for happiness? Their
mothers coincidentally assigned to the same volunteer job—filling Christmas
baskets for the needy—begin their charity mission with a vicious toy-throwing
fight at a local mall.
Noelle McDowell lives in Dallas, but she is headed home to Rose,
Oregon to see her family and celebrate Christmas and her birthday,
which fall on the same day. Home has not been the same since a
summer day ten years ago when she was jilted by her boyfriend, Thom
Sutton. She never had shared her love of Thom with her family
because her mom and Thom's were locked in a feud, so the end of
this relationship was even more difficult.

This Christmas the warring moms are paired together for a holiday
project that will keep the holidays anything but peaceful. At the
same time, Noelle will rediscover Thom and decide to marry
him.

The story is filled with laughs --- my personal favorite part is

when Noellle and Thom's dads reveal that they have been playing
golf all these years taking no stock of how the rest of their
family felt.
If you want to give more than a book, here are some gift
suggestions to pair with this:

a Christmas basket donated to a charity in your friend's name, or a

basket filled with small items your friend might love. Another idea
for this book. If you have a person in your life with whom you have
had a misunderstanding, think about sending this to mend a
fence.
