Obsolescence Management of new technologies.

- The technological developments, periodic upgradations/ replacements required within the Plant
design life (30 years) – the control systems, softwares/ firmwares capabilities within the span to
operate in uninterrupted manner.

- Obsolescence Management plan – obsolescence management matrix with the obsolescence dates (in
liaison with the OEM’s).

- To assess the electronic components used currently in the Plant. For each component in the system/
packages, assess the age of each machinery (the time frame in which that may become obsolete
shortly) - An obsolescence management software can aid in tracking this.

- Assess how well new digital resources can be integrated with or replaced with the soon-to-be-
obsolete electronic components. Depends on the Company’s operational capabilities & financial
decisions. Provision of any dedicated obsolescence management team that keeps track of
components and plans maintenance and repairs when required?.

- Assess on the risks of obsolescence – impacts to the hazards and overall productivity.

- The centralized database – details on items replaced/ maintained/ upgraded etc.

- The proactive Obsolescence Management Process.
