Week 2
Day 1: 12th of June, 2022
This was the start of the 2 nd week, office started at 9: am as usual. A new daily activity was
introduced. This is Daily News collection work, here I and the other intern have to collect
snippets of macro economy news and stock related news. Not all news have to collected,
there are certain criteria’s for the macro and stock news. I have to collect any macro news
which is relevant to the country’s improvement or the decline of it, same criteria goes for
Stock news as well. When all news is collected I have to send the file to the Research
Associates where they will review it and then publish it for the investors to read in our
website. This work activity was only shown to us how to do it on this day, later on the next
me and the other intern have to do this activity every morning.
A task was given to me where I have to research 23 stock listed textile company of what their
business model so that I can get an idea what kind of raw materials majority of the textile
company uses for their business. On this day I was able to complete only 18 company’s
business model.
Then I completed my weekly work of collection NAV of Mutual Funds from the DSE
website and then make a report out of it. After that I also completed my daily work of SME
and Database as well, where I have to update the daily SME performance in the DSE and
update the Database of stocks earning, dividends and board meeting from the DSE website.
And the Office concludes at 5:30Pm
Day 2: 13th of June, 2022
On this day I completed The Daily Morning News collected, this week I will only be
collecting macro news and send my part to my fellow intern and he sent the whole file to the
research associates to publish.
Completed the other half of Textile industry business model report. And based on the report I
was asked what I have learned which I replied those companies are heavily invested in one
product and how the new budget can impact on the industry and got a positive feedback on it.
I was also given a small task to read the market maker rules according to BSEC. There is no
time limit for when I have to end this task. After that I completed my daily task of SME and
Database Update and office ended at 5:30pm
Day 3: 14th of June 2023
Completed Daily News Snippets collection in the morning. After that I was given a small task
collect the Exchange Traded Funds Rules and make a list of the rule changed and submit it to
the research analyst.
Made A new IPO Report on Aschia Seafood company, as I already did an IPO report on
Brothers last week, this one was easy to make, here I have to put all the relevant information
in the report like their financial position, their board members m their nature of business etc.
I could not complete the task given on the last which was of market maker rules , because the
whole report was made from Tough Bangla language and as I was not good on understanding
old Bangla language Words. But I didn’t get a very negative feedback from my senior analyst
as they understood my situation.
Later I Did my Daily work of SME and Database which I had small issue in SME excel as a
new stock was listed in DSE so the Excel Formula model had to be changed which the
Research Analyst help me in do so. And my office ends at 5:30 as usual.
Day 4: 15th June, 2022.
On this day to much things didn’t happen. I did the usual Macro daily news collection and
submitted it. Then I was given a task to calculate the Capital Adequacy ratio of 5 banks to see
how much rick they can absorb. This task took a lot of time to finish, after that I did my Daily
task of SME and Database and office ended at 5:30pm
Day 5: 16th June, 2022
Again on this day not much happened as the Department was busy on making reports for the
Investor Clients. I did my Daily Macro News as usual and then was given a task to collect the
financial info of Lafarge Company and make a small report on how they performed in 2020
and 2021. After that I completed my Daily work of SME and Database. One incident did
happened on this day where the Head of Department had a meeting one of the foreign client
Online and everyone was able to see the meeting. So it was first time experience to know
how real life client meeting goes.

Learning and Observation

On this week what I have learned is that the research department have to keep daily news on
the economy of the country and companies as well. Keeping day to day Knowledge is the key
ti the task of the department as if we know what current happening is then the research team
can forecast what will happen in the capital market and minimize the risk for their clients.
And I also learned how textile industry business model and with knowledge I can get an idea
how the budget can impact on them. Gained knowledge on some other companies as well.
Overall after the first week the second week didn’t seem too tough to work.
