Week 1

Day 1: 1st of June, 2022

This was the first day as in Research Intern at Brac EPL which is a company that focuses on
the Capital market. My office hours starts at 9:00am but I already went there at 8:30am.
There I Met the other Intern Who also joined in the same department as me. After that, got
introduced to the Research Department members, it consist of one Head of the Department,
One Research Analyst, and 2 Research Associate and there was also one previous Intern as
well. The first day was only about getting to know everyone and how the whole system
works at Brac EPL. But me including the other the interns were still given a small task to
collect all tax related Info for the 2023 Budget from the articles Provided By the Head Of the
team. After collecting all the info we send the file to the Head of the Team.
Then At the end of the working Hours I was introduced to the Daily Work I will be doing
after 2-3 days or more and was taught how to do it by the Previous Intern and the Research
Associate. The Daily work was about Collecting Info regarding SME, Earning, Dividends
and Board Meeting info of listed Companies of DSE and inputting them in the specific Excel
Sheet. The reason for this task was explained by the Research Associates as this was a
research Team Collecting Info and explaining them is one the most Import task.
As I was already familiar with this kind of work from My Finance Major Courses, this task
was easy to learn. After getting familiar to the Office, My working hours end at 5:30pm and
this concludes today’s Event at the Office.
On my First Day what I have observed is that The Company is Dependent on the Research
Team as this was Stock Brokerage Company and Does Equity Research and Valuation of
Companies, Collecting Specific Info is one of the most important task.
Day 2: 2nd of June, 2022
Arrived Early in my office then took some rest. On my 2nd day my task was very simple, I
had to collect the Balance sheet and Income statement of last 5 years of Bkash. After
collecting the info I rechecked everything and gave the File to the Research Associate. A few
hours later me and the other interns got to know that in the upcoming days the Budget Details
will be released and the company will have to be well prepared to collect all all the info
regarding this.
I was taught again of my daily routine task so I get more familiar with my Daily Routine
work. And With this it concludes my todays work.
On my 2nd Day What I have observed and learned is that the research Team is Preparing for
the 2023 Budget Info Release so that they can predict what will happen to the Capital Market
of the Company and also the Country Economy.
Day 3: 5th of June 2023
Arrived On my office early as usual. A task was given to me to collect Financial Statement,
Cash flow, Income statement of the last 2 years of Power Grid. As the team was working on
valuation of Power grid the necessity info was required to progress forward. After completing
the task I was introduced to my weekly work which I have to do on every Sunday , which
making weekly Mutual Fund Report though excel which will later show to the Investors. This
work need a little practice for me as this kind of task was still new to me. After that i was
shown an IPO prospectus of B. Brother on how a new company is listed in the Capital Market
and I was taught to do an IPO report, this was a continuous task so this will be progressed
every day. After having lunch and some rest I was given a small task to collect Marico
Financial Position Info and gave it to the research analyst. With these task completed it
concluded the day’s work.
On this day what I have learned is that every day the research team has to do research on their
clients preferred Company and also has keep them Updated as well as the clients may ask
about them about the company at any moment.
Day 4: 6th June, 2022.
Arrived early in the office as usual, took some rest as well. After that I got into doing the IPO
work of B. Brothers. For that I had to read the IPO prospectus and collect all the required info
and write it on the B. Brothers Report. This Task took many hours as the prospectus was over
200pg and I had to go through everything.
After lunch The IPO report was 70% done and I was told to take rest and do this work later as
this task is not needed to be submitted as this Moment as the Research Team currently
focusing on the upcoming budget right now. After some rest collected the last 9 month
financial position of Power grid which was completed quickly as was given to the research
analyst. And finally I did my Daily work of SME and Database and with this the day’s work
was completed.
Day 5: 7th June, 2022
On this day there was nothing much do as the whole team was very busy on preparing for the
Upcoming Budget release. So on this day I only practiced my daily routine task and also the
weekly task as well which I have to do later on the next week. Where I Observed that the
formula which was taught to me in Excel had some flaws which took more time so fixed it
and made a better version of the formula which I later shown it to the research associates.
