Lafarge Cement Jordan receives a license to generate (15 MW) of solar energy

Amman, September 27, 2018 - Lafarge Cement Jordan, a member of the

LafargeHolcim group, has obtained a license to generate (15.64) megawatts of
solar energy from the Energy & Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) in
accordance under an agreement signed between the two parties.

According to the license signed by the CEO of the Energy & Minerals
Regulatory Commission (EMRC); Eng.Farouk Hayari and the CEO of Lafarge
Jordan Amr Reda, the license duration is 20 years, in order to generate
electricity for Lafarge Rashadeya Cement plant in Tafila.

The license comes after Lafarge Cement Jordan signed an agreement with the
National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) in August 2018 as the first
agreement in this regard.

And with this license, Lafarge Cement Jordan has started the first solar project
in LafargeHolcim Group in the Middle East. It is also the leading company in
construction of a power plant for a cement plant in Jordan. The solar
photovoltaic plant will be installed on (320,000) meters2 within its own lands.

The company said in a press release issued today, that this project will be
implemented on the Building, ownership and operation system (BOO), as its
financing will be through borrowing commercial banks, not through
development banks as the case with other renewable energy projects in Jordan.

CEO Amr Reda said that the project's importance will be in the positive role
that the cement industry plays in the use of renewable energy and the reduction
of (CO2) emissions. This project comes with the LafargeHolcim Sustainable
Development Strategy which focuses on the need to improve the consumption
of environmental resources and preserve nature in all its operations around the
world.

Mr.Reda declared that the company is now preparing to generate electricity

from wind energy to create significant financial and economic impact through
the savings that these projects will contribute as one of the strategic projects to
sustain the company's business.

And Reda expressed his thanks for the government support represented by the
Ministry of Energy and Mineral resources (MEMR), Ministry of Environment,
Energy & Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) and the National Electric
Power Company (NEPCO). Lafarge Cement Jordan has signed an agreement
with Adenium Energy Capital in the end of 2016 to establish this project.
