Menu making on Positouch

Lets look at how the menu appears on our front screens

When we go to our menu screens we can see that by pressing a button
It brings up our first set of modifiers called muscle x because they are require
before making any other choices
The next set of modifiers are referrd to as mazle x

These options may be ignored entirely but should represent the most common modifications to our order
Now lets look at how we make all this happen from our navigator homescreen
We will open the menu editor
We ll be adding an item to an existing menu
First we will select Edit an order screen
Lets say we have to add a new sandwich or burger in sandwiches screen
We simply click on that screen
You see that the whole screeen is laid out in a grid
If you re familier with microsoft excel this should look very familier
We have a total of 55 numbered boxes that represent where we can place an item
Depending on the size of the button we can use up to four boxes for a single item
In the uper right you ll see the curently cell numbers shown
Lets look at the item we ring up out front the cheese burger
When i click on it the screen cell window come up

Lets look at the important features the inventory number is displayed in the uper left and is simply the number assigned to the
burger in the databas
The cell type refers to how the item will behave
Is it a main item Do we want to include tax ? we ll get more into that part later
We can see that as a cell type 1 primary item taxed
This means the tax is applied on the top of the base price of cheese burger
Below that is the swatch size By changing the swatch size we simply change the size of the button from a single cellto four cell
If i change the size of our cheese burger button you can see how it would appear on the terminal

This tell the item where to print
We ll just accept that we can print to one of three places
A hot food printer a cold food printer and the bar
At the bottom of the screen you ll see that we have a window that show the option we saw in our terminal previously
The muscle x are always listed on the top
The mazle x are always listed beneath
To the right you see that you have the options to add edit and delete our options we ll get to that
Lets go to our sandwich first
I am going to select exit
Then i am going to select an unsed box Lets use number 32
We are back to screen cell options but there is no inventory number or description and everything else is that its default settin
Well add a reuben sandwich
The next step are the most intuitive so this may take couple of ime to be familier with you
We will first select look up from the top of the screen
This is the menu item screen for item number 100
We certainly dont want to use that we want to add a reuben
So now we ll select add record from the top of the screen to add a new item to the inventory
A window pops up suggesting an item number for us
It will always default to the next available number in the data base

If we choose we can group similar items into a number range like number in all our appetizers from 1000 to 1200
We can use any number in the data base between 1 and 4999 as long as it already not in use
For now well use the number provided by the data base 135 and click okay
This screen looks similar to our screen cell options but this one is different
This is the menu item screen
Where we tell the system the critical information about an item
The description is the name of the item as it will appear on the reports
You ll notice that the prices are divided into price 1 price 2 and price 3
These will be addressed more in advance menu training
The major and minor categories are again for reporting purposes and are used to oranize your reports into distincts categories
For all purposes all you need to know is that the major and minor categories need to be assigned
We can always edit later

To the right you see two rows of boxes that are use to define which discounts may be applied to this item if you click to discou
you ll see a display of all the discounts to find in the data bas
Below the discount boxes you ll find the tax eligibility which is just another way for asking which taxes apply to the item
For our purposes thats all we need to know about the item screen
Now we ll enter a description which is simply the name of the item in this case reuben sandwich
Now we ll add our prices we ll save the sandwiches $8
We ll pick our major minor categories using the dropdown box
We ll select sandwiches as our major category and hot sandwiches for a minor category
We ll allow all discounts on the right so we wont change any of that and we ll leave tax 1 applied which is generally our sales t
Now we select save in the uper right of the window to add it into the database
We hit the select button to choose this item for the screen cell
You ll see that the item number description prices and major minor categories have all been automatically added
Reuben sandwhich may be a bit too long for the buton we are making
So lets delete the sandwhich product

when we do that it does nt change the name of the item in data base so it still appear as reuben sandwhich on the report but
and the kitchen printout
it will show up as simply reuben
Our cell type is fine
As we want to add tax on top of the $8
Lets click on save to sava a progress and see what it looks like
If we ran an immediate system change the button would now appear on our burger and sandwiches screen like this
Lets click in reuben again and add some options to start with
We ll borrow some other options from the other sandwiches on the screen
We ll select copy from the right of our options panel and we ll see the other items on the screen
Lets steal the options from the hamburger by cliking on the box next to the hamburger item and clicking okay
Now we see all the options for the hamburgers we dont need a temprature on reuben so we can get rid of the muscle x entire
We ll highlight the top line of the options by cliking on it then select delete to the right of the option panel
All that lefts are the main selects represented here by the word multi to the left
We ll higlight the remaining line and select edit to the right from here we see two primary options in the upper left
You ll see the drop down window to select the option type
We are only concerned with two at the moment
Muscle x like pour temprature that are required choices and may select multiples
This means that we can select as many of these modifieres as we like or none at all

To the right of the option type window is the screen window

because this is the test database you see that we only have a couple of screens and one is tilted sandwhich mods which is the

We ll deselect the lettuce mayo and catch up by clicking on the flag to the left and click ok
So we are going to add a modifier will lcik save again to save our progress which return us to the order screen
Then we ll click exit to see our list of screens
Lets now click on sandwhich mods to add our new modifier
You ll probably notice right away that all the name of our buttons have an asterisk in the lower right
Also all of our items are the same size here single hi single wide
Wwe want to keep our buttons small here to allow file from multiple options to be presented in a clear way

Just like with creating an item Well select add record and accept the number provided by the software by clicking okay knowi
comes with dressing and knowing some people will want to remove that
Lets add the option well fill in dressing for the description and leave the price blank since we are not charging to remove it nex
We ll select the major and minor categories from the drop downs

Next click on save and select to attach it to the screen cell
We first clicked on two notes here first and most importantly is he cell type

All option that you want to attach to your menu items must be a screen cell type 4 for option if you forget this step and save it
you ll see that it doent have that asterisk that the other options do also you ll notice that
if i go back to our burgers and sandwhich screen
click on reuben and try to edit the may select the dressing is unavailable for selection

The point is you cant make a main item a modifier of another main item
If i click on dressing again you ll notice that the cell type drop down doesnt allow you to change it to
cell tyoe of 4 options
If you make this mistake and you ll just click on the dressing button and make note of the inventory number
then select delete and lower left
it will ask you to confirm the deletion

Since we have already created the item
All we have to do is enter the inventory number and ensure we select the proper cell
Click save again and when we return to the modifier screen you ll see the asterisk indicating that the cell is now a modifier
One final note on modifiers
You ll notice i have made some them green

if i click on the one for antswiz you ll notice i ve chosen green from the cell colour drop down and added a dollar sign at the be
of the description
You also see the price fields are filled in when i created this modifier rather then leave the price field blank
i added a price
i also used the colour and dollar sign to create visual cues that alert the person ordering that an additional cost will be incurred
Lets return now to burger and sandwiches screen and click on a reuben button now
I ll highlight the main selects in the option pannel and click add on the option screen
i ll select our modifier screen and select dressing and the add cheese button
i can select the entire column by clicking on the number at the top of the screen
i can also deselect them the same way

Now i ll click ok and save

We ll exit out of our menu screens run in immediate system change to update the system
