the old testament and 18 times in the new testament. The word greek word “Berit” means a
compact pledge,treaty or agreement.GOD IS A GOD OF COVENANT ,He does nothing without
covenant and the Bible is referred to as the book of Covenant in Exo 24:7. God is always
mindful of covenant .Exo 2:24”-25 says “… God heard their groaning, and God remembered
his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.And God looked upon the children of

EDENIC COVENANT
This is the covenant instituted in the Garden of Eden as seen in Gen 1:28-30; 2:8-17.The main
points are :a) To be fruitful and multiply (Gen 1:28).b) To subdue the earth (Gen 1:28).c) To have
dominion of the animal creation (Gen 1:28).
d) To eat the herbs and fruit (Genesis 1:29).

ADAMIC COVENANT
The Adamic covenant deals with the fall and restoration of mankind and creation. When Christ

NOAHIC (EVERLASTING) COVENANT

This is the covenant with Noah never to flood the earth again (Genesis 8:20- 9:27).The major
points in this covenant are:
a. The relation of man to the earth is confirmed (Gen 8:21).b. Seasons, day and night and
harvesting confirmed (Gen 8:22).
c. Human government introduced (Gen 9:1-6).
d. A curse is given to Caanan (Gen 9:24,25).
e. The Semitic races will be the source of spiritual wealth (Gen 9:26,27).
f. The Japhetic groups will be dominant (Gen 9:27).
g. The earth will never be judged with water again (Gen 8:21; Gen 9:11).
h. The rainbow given as the sign of the promise

ABRAHAMIC COVENANT
Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:1-3) is the covenant that founds the nation of IsraelIt is
confirmed with Abraham with emphasis on the land (Gen 13:14-18), the spiritual seed (Gen.
15:1-6) and its everlasting quality (Gen 17:6-8).It is an unconditional covenant - God will fulfill
it. (God caused Abraham to fall asleep as He ratified the covenant alone Gen 15:12-18)
The seven-fold covenant (Gen 12:1-3) is fulfilled as follows:-
a) PROMISE "And I will make of thee a great nation.

c) PROMISE "And make thy name great.
FULFILLMENT Abraham is renowned, not only in Christianity but also in Judaism and with
the Moslems.
d) PROMISE "And thou shalt be a blessing.
FULFILLMENT With the work of fulfillment of Abraham's seed, Jesus Christ, he was a

e) PROMISE "And I will bless them that bless thee.
FULFILLMENT This is seen in the rise of many nations eg Britain in the 19th century, the rise

FULFILLMENT The decline of nations such as the Spanish Empire after the Armada, the fall of

PALESTINIAN COVENANT
The Palestinian Covenant deals with the Jews controlling an area of land in the Middle East
which was unconditionally given to Abraham. It should be noted that the Jews have never
possessed the land as specified, but will do so during the Millennium. (Deut 30:1-9, Isaiah 11:10-
12, Jeremiah 23:3-8, Ezekiel 37:21-25).It is unconditional God will fulfill it automatically.
The Palestinian Covenant gives:
a) Dispersion for disobedience (v 1) (Deut 28:63-68).
b) The future repentance of Israel (v 2).
c) The return of the Lord (v 3) (Amos 9:9-14; Acts 15:14-17).
d) Restoration to the land (v 5) (Isa 11:11,12; Jer 23:3-8; Ezek 37:21-25).
e) National conversion (v 6) (Rom 11:26-27; Joel 2:14-16).
f) Judgment of Israel's enemies (v 7) Joel 3:1 -8).
g) National prosperity (v 9) (Amos 9:11-15).

DAVIDIC COVENANT
This is the covenant that Israel will have a king forever according to 2 Samuel 7:8-17.The King
will be a descendant of David in the Davidic line (verse 12).He will have a kingdom to rule over
(verse 12)God will provide a throne. (verse 13).The throne will be forever. (verse 13,16)The
Davidic Covenant is restated in (verse 16)The covenant has one condition - disobedience will be
rewarded with discipline but will not cause the cancellation of the covenant. (2 Sam 7:15; Psa
89:20-37).This discipline came with the division of the kingdom under Rehoboam. (1 Kings
12:16-20) Also the discipline continued with the captivity of Samaria in 721 BC and Judah in

MOSAIC COVENANT
This is the covenant between God and Israel, given through the Law of Moses (Exod - Deut). It
was a conditional covenant - it depended on man's obedience (Deut 28:1,15)It had three main
parts:a) Section 1 - The Commandments - proves that no man can keep the Law. All men are
proven sinners, and therefore need a Saviour.
b) Section 2 - The Tabernacle and Sacrifices - Pictures Christ as the Saviour, the only sacrifice
which can pay the eternal penalty of sin.
c) Section 3 - Social Code - Laws to preserve the nation Israel - law, hygiene, morals, taxation,
etc.

NEW COVENANT
This is the eight and last covenant.The New Covenant guarantees eternal blessing under the
Abrahamic Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-37, Hebrews 8:7-9). It is unconditional - God will fulfill
it automatically. "I will" (Heb 8:10,12) rather than "If ye will" (Ex 19:5).The New Covenant is
said to be better than the Mosaic Covenant. (Heb 7:19; Rom 8:3,4).Obedience is from a willing
heart (Heb 8:10) whilst that for the Mosaic Law was fear (Heb 2:2; 12:25-27).In the New
Covenant all shall know God, from the least to the greatest (Heb 8:11).The sins are forgotten
under the New Covenant (Hebrews 8:12).The New Covenant relies on the completed sacrifice of
Jesus Christ (Heb 9:11-12).

Forms of covenant: The scriptures presents the following-Vows, oaths, promise, pledge
Gen 28:20-22” And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this
way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,So that I come again to my
father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:And this stone, which I have set for a

Covenant does not work without sacrifice! Every covenant has a price tag attached to it.The price
is paid as sacrifice. It is the sacrifice that gives momentum to covenant. That is sacrifice drives

effect the establishment of a covenant. King David said in 1Chron 21:24 to Onan “ ..I will not

our Life often become Idols competing with God as well as loop-holes through which satan use
flesh to tempt and derail us. We are vulnerable in those areas that we have not surrendered to

Ways of entering into covenant:

food or what we eat or drink, what we put on or wear, where we live or environment, where we
work or transact our business, religion we practice, place of worship ,apprentice-ship to mention

unconscious evil covenant: Without knowing it, a person may get into a covenant. The Bible
considers covenant as a very strong thing such that when God wants to commit Himself to
something and He doesn’t want to change His position, He enters into a covenant. A covenant is
something looking like an irrevocable commitment and is like a chain biding two people
together. The chain would always be dragging the partners along. Covenant may come through
inheritance. A parent might have entered into a covenant agreement with some demons for the

 Know and be sure in your spirit that people can be forced to do what they don’t want to do. As

Constant accident, hurting oneself all the time, emotional instability, crying one minute and
laughing in the next minute, unreasonable harshness, excessive pride, uncontrollable anger and
temper, and constant unforgiving attitude are evidences that something is hiding somewhere. All

SPIRITUAL BURIAL
This is the covenant entered into by the construction of coffin for ritual sacrifice. For many

 DREAM COVENANT
A large number of people enter into covenants through dreams without knowing. So eating with
the dead, swimming in the water, serving people you don’t know, playing with evil snakes,

Serious Advice and warning to covenant breakers!!!

In case you discover a dark/satanic/unprofitable covenant in place in your life as a Christian, do
not succumb to fate and allow it to stay due to fear and/or laziness in carrying out the necessary
actions needed to break it. If you break evil/satanic/ ungodly covenants or any unprofitable
covenant, you can go scot-free as the work of our redemption by the Lord Jesus Christ on the
cross at Calvary settles that already. The covenant we enter through the Christian experiences of
salvation, sanctification, baptism in the Holy ghost and His fire, brokenness etc will terminate
and break many of those inherent dark/satanic/unprofitable covenants(remember we have been
told earlier that covenant terminate, renew and supersede other covenant).But If any breaks the
covenant with most high God, there is no redemption or redeemer for that. The doctrine of
eternal security that says-once saved, you are saved forever no matter what you do or the
notion that I can commit sin anytime ,anyhow, anywhere, till any length I will just ask God for
forgiveness after it and God must forgive me whether He likes it or not is a fallacy, a
deception and delusion from the pit of Hell to drag Christians to Apostasy. The willful,
conscious Christian covenant breaker will have to perish and suffer eternally for that action if
s/he fails to return before getting to the point of Apostasy! Examples of these are backsliding
and going into occultism(consciously or willfully) by Christians because of money, power, fame
or any other ephemeral things. Backsliding is the beginning which is redeemable provided it has
not got to the point of no return which is the end called Apostasy. Heb 6:4-6 says “ For it is
impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were
made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of
the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they
crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame” Also, Heb 10:26-
31 says” For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there
remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery

Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will
recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to

Examples of people in Bible days who entered into apostasy are Saul-the first king of Israel,
Judas Iscariot, Demas, Balaam .The contemporary ones are the occult priest, pastors, prophets
etc who consciously go to Satan ,demons for power. Some performed rituals using fellow human
beings or other things even their own blood and some were ask to stand on the Bible renouncing

him”.The same God of mercy is the God of vengeance. Nahum 1:2 says” God is jealous, and
the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on
his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies”. The universally accepted saying that
“vengeance is unavoidable” is corroborated by Ps 99:8 “Thou answeredst them, O LORD
our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their
inventions. We are in the last days and perilous times-“The selfish era”2Tim3:1.People don’t
respect oaths, promises, agreement and covenants with God or their fellowmen in marriage,
business etc. These have resulted to unexplainable problems in humanity as vengeance caught up
with them. Are you betrayed? “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place
unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”. Rom 12:19.
