Stealth is a highly fooling approach to the classic card at any number

effect. There’s no gaffs, no moves, just strategy and smoke and mirrors. I
honestly believe you will love learning and performing this effect!
This is my approach to a card at any number using, as the underlying
method, the Gilbreath Principle; you will require two decks, a red one
and a blue one. In the red deck take out the 2C, 5H, 6D, 8S and the 9H,
(packet 1, figure 1).
Now take out the mates of the first 4 cards and add a duplicate 9H and
a Joker to them. Set this packet in the reverse order of the cards on top
of the deck, so they will run 9H, 8C, 6H, 5D, 2S and place that on top of
the Joker (packet 2, figure 2).

Place packet 1 on top of the deck (2C uppermost) and pop packet 2 into
the middle of the deck (figure 3).

Finally, take a blue deck and position the 9H twenty first from the top of
the deck.
Bring out both cased decks and toss them onto the table. Ask a
participant to freely name red or blue. If they say red you pick up that
deck and say you will work with that. Then hand them the blue deck and
ask them to place it inside their pocket. However if they say blue, simply
hand that deck to them and ask them to pocket it. Pick up the red deck
and remove the cards. A simple magicians choice.
Execute a false shuffle or cut if you so wish; then turn the deck face up.
“Let’s remove the Joker before we start.” Hand to hand spread through
the deck and separate the hands at the Joker so that it’s on the face of the
left hand packet. Push it off to one side and discard it, then place both
packets you are holding face down next to each other in position for a
tabled riffle shuffle. Ask your participant to riffle shuffle the deck and
then square up. Then ask them to deal 5 cards from the top as you say
that you will play a little game of mental Poker with them. Despite the
fact that they have genuinely shuffled the deck, the cards they have dealt
will consist of a 2,5,6,8 and the 9H thanks to Gilbreath.
Have your helper pick up the packet they dealt. Ask them to mix the
packet and then spread it with the faces towards themselves, like a hand
of Poker. “So, Fabrice, you shuffled the deck and dealt a hand of Poker.
Please think of the highest card you see please. Then take that card out
and drop it on top of the deck. Next add up the values or numbers of the
other cards to form a random number in your mind. You have a total?
Put those cards on top of the deck and replace the cards inside the box.
So now you are thinking of a card and a number yes?” They will confirm
that they indeed are. The number they are thinking of will be 21 and the
card the 9H.
Everything looks so clean and fair. Remind your participant that they
placed another deck in their pocket at the start. Ask them to remove the
deck and take out the cards. Get them to reveal the name of the card
they are thinking of and the number. Then have them deal 20 cards out
loud and face up into a packet on the table. Stop them at this point to
build up suspense. Remind the audience how your helper shuffled the
other deck and did everything themselves. Have your helper turn the
next card face up to reveal their thought of card and let them freak out!
This truly is one of the strongest effects in my repertoire. I only use it for
special occasions when I want to really do something very special for
people. At the risk of immodesty, I believe you have a reputation maker
now.
Run through it a few times, then work on your presentation and make
the effect fit you!
I wish you every success with it.
