It has been a while since you have last formally studied history in the early levels of your basic
education. In order to refresh you of the discipline of history, you will have to accomplish the activity
below as foretaste to the course, Readings in Philippine History with Primary Sources.

Directions:
1. Choose an article and a photo from any daily paper circulated in the Philippines which was
published on the day of your birth or at least within your birth month. These primary sources should
be about events and issues which happened in the Philippines. As much as possible choose the
items which your parents/grandparents/guardians are aware of (This will help you answer Module I
Assignment 02).
2. You can find these at Google News Archive which holds the Philippine News Papers, Manila
Standard (January 14, 1984 to June 30, 2003); Philippine Daily Inquirer (January 01, 2000 to December
03, 2007); and The Manila Times (January 04, 2005 to December 31, 2008). You may also choose other
resources as long as you will be able to provide the details required by the matrix.
3. Analyze these documents using the provided matrix below. Be sure to fill-up all the items in the
matrix even if your article and photo are about the same event or issue.
4. Submit your output as PDF.
