usage that grade 10 Newton Students consumed in a day?

What is the 84th Percentile rank of the recorded amount of battery percentage in smartphone

usage that Grade 10 Newton Students consumed in a day?

Definition of Terms

The researchers supplied the definitions of key concepts that are crucial to comprehend for a
better comprehension of this study.

Smartphone- A mobile phone that performs many of the functions of a computer, typically
having a touch screen interface, internet access, and an operating system capable of running
downloaded applications.
Battery percentage-It is defined as the ratio of the remaining charge in the battery, divided by
the maximum charge that can be delivered by the battery.

Young adult-Young adulthood, often regarded as being between the ages of 18 and 22 or 18 and
25 (generally defined as mid-20s and older)

Youngsters-Young people, especially children, are sometimes referred to as youngsters.

Background of the Study

A smartphone is a handheld electronic device that provides a connection to a cellular network

and the internet. (Jake Frankenfield) Mobile phone is one of the most rapidly growing new
technologies in the world (Rebello, 2010)

The use of smart phone is gradually becoming a compelling learning tool used to enhance
teaching and learning in distance education. Its usage ensures flexible course delivery, makes it
possible for learners to access online learning platforms, access course resources and interact
digitally. (Darko-Adjei, 2019)

Fawareh and Jusoh (2017) postulated that having a smart phone is like having a tiny computer in
a pocket. It is blatant that, the potency of smart phone is not only meant for placing of calls and
receiving of calls. Usually, there are amazing features such as for browsing, checking health
status, sending and receiving emails, watching videos, listening to music, chatting, sharing
photos, videos and other

Our daily lives now include using mobile phones for communication, and we also have access to
a wide range of apps that can significantly ease our daily lives. Although the cost of developing
apps is rising, there are more apps available in app stores. Some of these apps have been tailored
for mobile app stores, making it simpler for us to find them.(Pop, 2022)

In the article of Sehba (2016, October 06) entitled, “Importance of cell phone in our daily life
and in student life",
Mobile phones are equally popular among young adults. This hand-sized technological
advancement provides maximum assistance to youngsters in their academic as well as personal
lives. The latest mobile phones have several technological features including photography,
internet browsing, video games, text messaging, e-mail, multimedia messaging, video chatting,
video calling, voice communication, and wireless communication like Bluetooth, etc. These
advancements facilitate all users however; it proves to be really helpful for students. Over the
years, cell phones have become an important component of our lives. It is not just a mode of
communication anymore but much more than that. A cell phone is also, alternatively, known as a
cellular phone, mobile phone, or portable phone. Primarily, it enabled its users to communicate
anywhere in the world. However, with the passage of time, now mobile phones have not only
replaced landline phones but also cameras, radios, computers, and calculators, etc. From ‘want’,
cell phones have become the ‘need’ of human beings. This is the reason that the importance of
cell phones has increased over the past decades.

In the article of A. (June 15, 2021), Positive implications of smart phones in online learning
Undeniably, when students spent too much time playing smart phones, it poses a threat to their
learning results. However, if smart phones are used in the right way, they could help raise the
performance quality and solve the challenges of online learning. Accordingly, when schools and
universities have to move online, using smart phones for learning is indispensable.
Currently, the use of smart phones performs phenomenal roles as far as teaching and learning are
concerned. For instance, students can access their lecture materials on their smart phones,
quickly access information online to meet their information needs via learning management
systems, access academic databases, and a website to mention but a few. (Masiu & Chukwuere,
2018)
Significance of the Study

The importance of this research is to provide information regarding the battery percentage that

respondents use on their smartphone in a day.

The study is also looking forward to provide beneficial results to the following:

 To theStudents, this study will provide them knowledge about the percentage of their

cell phone battery that they consume in a day.

 To the Parents and Teachers, this study will provide them information of the current

situation of their children and students, and it will also inform them of any potential

negative effects or consequences that will give them the motive to come up with the best

solution for all respondents.

 Tothe people, this study will give them knowledge to know their limitation in using their

smart phones and this will provide them a information of their rank in using the battery

percentage of their smartphone.

Conclusion

This study counts the number of battery percentages that grade 10 Newton students consume in a
day. The highest percentage that we recorded is 100%, while our lowest is 40%. For this study,
the researchers selected a random percentage position, including Quartile, Decile, Percentile, and
Percentile rank.

For the Quartile, the researchers decided to find the Q₂. The second quartile resulted in
85.5. This means that the 85.5 of all the records of how many battery percentage do grade 10
students consume in a day is that they consume the whole battery percentage of the phone in a
day.

For the Decile, the research decided to find the D8. The eighth decile resulted in 105.8. This means
that all of the recorded consumption battery percentages of Grade 10 Newton students consume in a
day.

For the Percentile, the researchers decided to fine the P₉₁, the ninety-one percentile. The
researchers' result was 94.83. This means that the 94.83 of all the recorded how many battery
percentages do grade 10 students consume in a day are (less than or equal to) the ninety-two
percentile; and the 6.17 of all the recorded battery percentages consumed by grade 10 Newton
students are (greater than or equal to) the ninety-one percentile.

For the Percentile rank, the researchers decided to find the PR₈₂. The eighty-two percentile
rank resulted in 34.75. This means that the 34.75 of all the recorded how many battery
percentages do grade 10 students consume in a day are (less than or equal to) the eighty-two
percentile rank; and the 66.25 of all the recorded battery percentages consumed by grade 10
Newton students are (greater than or equal to) the eighty-two percentile rank.
