Learning Task 1 Quiz 5 (10 points each)

A. Direction: Write a personal letter about your summer vacation.

My summer vacation 2019 was adventurous, our family decided to go to our province,
in Bohol because I haven't been there yet, so I am so excited about that vacation, and
it is also my first time to ride in an airplane. When we got there, I’ve met my cousin,
my grandmother and my grandfather. It was my first time to meet my grandfather and
my cousin there, and I’ve met my grandmother many times because she was here in
Luzon. It was adventurous because we go to some of the famous landmarks there in
Bohol, we have visited chocolate hills there and it was beautiful, there are so many
hills and the view is so good-looking. I can’t able to picture them because I don’t have
phone on that time and it so crowded there. We also go to the “Hinagdanan Cave” it
was so beautiful there, and it’s cold because the cave is in the underground. I also
want to swim there but it’s deep and I can’t swim on that. We also go to the zoo of
tarsier, I see many tarsier there and we guided that we shouldn’t touch the tarsier
because they’re biting, and many of them are sleeping. And lastly, we go to the beach
where we swim and relaxed. And that’s my summer vacation in Bohol.

B. Direction: What does the word crisis in Mandarin stand for? What metaphors
were used in the essay, “Bamboo in the wind, Gold in the Fire”
The Chinese phrase for “crisis” is “Wēijī does in fact mean danger. However, Victor
Mair, Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at the University of
Pennsylvania, writes that, in this context, Ji ( 机), represents an “'incipient moment; a
crucial point when something begins or changes.

The metaphors used in the essay “Bamboo in the wind, Gold in the Fire” are:
 “It is in man's flesh and bones that the events of history are etched.”
 "She's wearing too many diamonds."
 "Death By Fire"
 "He's 'too small for her."
 "It was going to be a long night”
 "The Filipino is said to be a bamboo. It bends in the storm, but doesn’t break."
