• This kit is sold as is without warranty, and the entire risk as to quality and performance is with the buyer.
• This kit is designed and manufactured to enhance the performance of the Honda CRF450R, and as is stated in the CRF450R Owner’s Manual, should be used only
in an organized competitive event upon a closed course which is conducted under the auspices of a recognized sanctioning body or by permit issued by the local
governmental authority having jurisdiction.

• This kit is not suitable for use with any other parts.
• The Warn switch is not used with Fi Setting tool software 09CRF450R.
• The connection record remains in ECM even once your PC and ECU is connected with this setting tool.

Battery
Prepare fully charged 12 V battery before setting the PGM-FI.
PGM-FI Setting
This section covers the PGM-FI setting procedure by PC communications.

PGM-FI Setting Setting Tool Software Install

System requirements and communication attachment 1. Close all other programs that may be running.
2. Insert the Installation disc into the CD/DVD drive and click the “setup” icon.
1.System requirements
• IBM AT compatible PC
• OS: Windows 98SE/2000/XP/Vista
• CPU: Pentium 200MHz or higher (recommended)
• Main memory: 32MB or more (recommended)
• Display: 1024 x 768 or higher resolution (recommended)
• CD-ROM: CD-ROM drive is required (for software installation)
• Serial port: USB port is required (to communicate with ECU)

3. Click the Next button.


2.The attachment
• UNIT ASSY., SERIAL-USB I/F: 38880-N1C-670

USB driver installation is needed before installing this setting tool software.
Follow the installation procedure included in the software CD-ROM for driver
installation.

Before you begin

File Menu CommPort

without saving.

Remove the connector cap from the DLC 4P (Red) connector near the ECM. Note:
• Do not start the engine with the I/F cord attached.
• Always use full charged 12V battery. If the battery voltage is insufficient or

File Operation

Opening a File
When reading is correct
When you click “Open File”, readable files are displayed.
Open the setting tool window by selected data.
Select a file you wish to use and click OK.

Save a File
If you click Save File, the File Save window is displayed. Save Button
Type a file name and click OK to save your file.
When file saving is correct:

When file saving error occurs:


If you use more than 8 characters for a file name, the window below will
appear.
To continue “Save File”, click “OK” and type a file name with eight or less char-
acters.

• Be sure to put the cursor before “.E2P” when you type
in a file name. If you omit the extension (.E2P), it will
not be listed in the File Open window.
• Do not overwrite default file (09CRF450.E2P).

If "Save File" is cancelled, a File operation has not ended normally window is

When using the Windows VISTA, the saved file might not be displayed by the
file explorer.
If you want to move or copy saved file, click “compatibility files button”.
Then the saved file is displayed, you can move or copy the file.

Changing Setting
Changing Engine Speed Segmentation
Changing Throttle Opening Segmentation You can arbitrarily change engine speed segmentation.

Click “ ” as shown above and select “Fi Map (number of percent).”

Throttle opening segmentation can be arbitrarily changed.

Engine speed segmentation can be changed like throttle opening segmenta-


tion.
For example, if you click on 8,000 min-1 (rpm), a scale like above will appear.
You can change 10 points excluding both ends (1,000 min-1 (rpm) and 12,000
min-1 (rpm)).

Choose a point to change using your mouse or the left/arrow keys. Fill in a new
value and click Enter Key to continue.

You can change the range that are only within the zone of the scale.

Changes here will also change the segmentation in ignition timing.


If you click throttle opening segmentation, 60% for example, a scale as shown
above will appear. Note that you cannot separately set the segmentation for air fuel ratio map and

Transferring Setting Data If communication with the ECU failed, the following screen is displayed.

Transmitting data (PC to ECU) Check the USB or other interface connection and communication settings, then
click Data Write to retry.
After transferring the setting data, disconnect the UNIT ASSY., SERIAL-USB I/F
from the vehicle, and connect the fuel pump 2P (Natural) connector.
Install the connector cap to the DLC connector.

When you click “Data Write”, the fol-


lowing window will appear.

Reconnect the fuel pump 2P (Natural) and the DLC 4P (Red) connector before
operating the kickstart. The electrical components may get damage if these are
not reconnected first.

Except Windows 2000:

In case you click "Open File" when starting up for the first time.

Normally 09CRF450.E2P is displayed as


default, however it’s not displayed in this
picture.

Countermeasure : Open the directory including the tool, and change the file
name.

It exists as a file, but does not displayed on the tool.

Select "09CRF450.E2P" and change the file name.


e.g.) Change the file name as "09CRF450.E2P" to "09CRF451.E2P"
The file name is not specified if the name includes 8 letters or less.
Now you can open the file.
