Amer’s Script:

Amer: Good morning, I’m (Your name)

Amer: We all know that earth is precious to us, since it provide
us food, shelter, and supplies.
Amer: Extinction of a particular animals or plant species occurs
when there are no more individual of that species alive
anywhere in the world. And this is a natural part of evolution.
Amer: Number 2, Human-induced climate change, this is due to
the increase in greenhouses resulting from human activities
have led to a net effect of warming of the climate system
leading to direct impacts including increased air and ocean
temperatures, wide spread melting of snow and ice, and rising
global average sea level.
Amer: Extinction also happens due to some organisms or
species that find it hard to adapt in our current state or the
fast-paced environmental change. Even if that’s the case there
should be other species that can survive or adapt, right? The
reason behind this is that there are factors that increases the
risk or chances of a species to go extinct, so what are these?
Amer: Small population sizes can increase the risk of a species
to go extinct since they are only few and can be wiped out
easily when a calamity comes.
Iann’s Script:

Iann: But, we are also aware that there are other creatures or
species that lives with us, we are not the only one that gets
earth’s benefits.
Iann: But in some cases extinctions happen at a much faster
rate than usual. For example, at the end of the Cretaceous
(kruh·tei·shuhs) period 65 million years ago, many kinds of
animal and plant species, including dinosaurs died.
Iann: Number 3, Pollution, many species have experienced
pollution events that have caused death and is a threat to their
habitat. Pollution happens and is also defined when the air,
water, and soil is contaminated by a substance that are harmful
to living organisms.
Iann: The factors that causes to increase the risk of species to
extinction are; limited geographical range, adapted to a very
stable environment, specialized diet, small population size, low
genetic diversity, Harvested and hunted, and large body size.
Iann: Low genetic diversity, can increase the risk of a species to
go extinct since they have weak immune system and can easily
get sick.
Rey’s script:

Rey: That’s right, if your thinking about animals and plants,

then your correct. These species have been living with us for a
long time.
Rey: There are other natural factors that triggers extinction
which includes; large scale volcanic eruptions, earthquakes,
tsunamis, typhoons, and impact events.
Rey: Number 4, overexploitation of natural resources,
overexploitation also called over harvesting refers to harvesting
a renewable resources to the point of diminishing returns. This
applies to natural resources such as; wild medicinal
(muh·di·suh·nuhl) plants, grazing pastures, game animals, fish
stocks, forests, and water aquifers (a·kwuh·frz). And if
continued it can lead to the destruction of the resources or
worse extinction.
Rey: Limited geographical range can increase the risk of species
to go extinct since some species find it hard to adjust in a
limited area or their habitat, since their habitat has all that they
need.
Rey: Large body size, can increase the risk of extinction of a
species since the have large bodies which can be easily seen by
hunters and has a lot of benefits, and they also need more
space and requires more food.
Ross’s Script:

Ross: In the early times animals were the ones that dominated
us, but this time of age we are the who dominates.
Ross: But human activities are regarded as the main reason for
the current extinction of species. The following are the human-
induced factors that triggers extinction.
Ross: And lastly, Habitat loss and degradation, habitat loss
occurs when natural habitats are converted to human uses
such as; cropland, urban areas, and infrastructures
development like; road and dams. Habitats are degraded when
their condition declines due to factors such as pollution,
invasive species, and over-utilization of natural resources.
Ross: Adapted to a very stable environment can increase the
risk of species to go extinct, when a certain species gets attach
or get stressed when a small or simple change that happens
around them.
Ross: Harvested and hunted, can increase the risk of species to
go extinct since other types of species are a popular delicacy
and can be a medicine.
Justin’s Script:

Justin: Humans are considered as the most intelligent species

on earth, however, we are also the reason for the recent
extinction events, What is extinction?
Justin: Number 1, introduction of invasive alien species,
invasive species are species that has been brought into an
environment where it doesn’t live naturally and where it causes
harm to the local environment, economy, or human health.
Justin: species with Specialized diet can increase their risk to go
extinct, because they only has one or few main food source,
and when that food is gone in its area it will have a hard time
finding food, since it only have few food source, and will die
due to starvation.
Justin: In conclusion, Extinction can’t be avoided, but we can
still prevent it, there are simple ways to prevent extinctions
like; educating people around you about endangered species,
recycle and buy sustainable products, grow native plant, reduce
water consumption, do not buy plastic products, and we should
not use hazardous chemicals or pesticides.
We hope that you learned something from this and that this
webinar have helped you to understand extinction more.
But what will happen if animals are over populated and humans
are endangered, but that’s another webinar from us five.
