ACCURA9/9L INSTRUCTION MANUAL

1 General

ACCURA 9/9L maintains shot volumes constantly at any variation of the material balance in the barrel by
means of IEI’s original shot volume control system. The newly incorporated shot-pressure compensation
function can acknowledge the material level in the barrel constantly and compensate the shot pressure
automatically, which solves the former problem of shot-volume variance.

Be sure to read through this instruction manual for correct handling and operation of Accura 9/9L dispenser.

Functions

Exchange barrels
To exchange barrels, press CLR RESET Key.
Dispense-pressure and vacuum-pressure returns to the initial setting figures. Dispensing counter
will be cleared ‘0’. The lapsed time is reset when viscosity-compensation is working.

Dispensing
One shot dispensing is operated with /OFF key. Level compensation and vacuum compensation works
while Bot-Level and Top-Level are set ‘ON’ on the D.SAMP function setting screen.

Continuous dispensing
Continuous dispensing is operated with SHIFT+ /OFF key. Continuous dispensing keeps on working
until the Sc (dispensing counter) reaches the initial setting at setting Sc (shot counter). Press /OFF key
in order to stop the continuous dispensing. While not setting the dispensing counter, the continuous
dispensing stops by pressing /OFF.

Dispense volume fine-adjustment

The dispense volume may increase or decrease slightly when dispense continuously
with a barrel filling with material. Pressing UP key or DOWN key can solve this problem
by changing the shot period to adjust the dispensing volume. This function can be carried out
while other calibrating functions are working in parallel. The fluctuating volume can be allowed
in the setting time ±20% except for the following case.
1) If the initial setting dispense time is 0.100 sec or more, it is unavailable to change to
0.099 sec or less.
2) If the initial setting dispense time is less than 0.100 sec., it is unavailable to change the
dispense time short.
3) If the dispense period is over 99.999 sec.

When changing barrels, fine-adjusted dispensing period is reset. If the adjusted dispense period i
sover ±20% or the dispense time is required to adjust soon after changing the barrels, a data
sampling is required by changing the dispense period and pressure.

To decrease the shot pressure, operate toward –-.
When Cm is changed to LE, Mt is shown. Enter the minimum shot period at STEADY mode.
The compensation sampling is carried out in accordance with this set time. Therefore, set as long period as p
ossible for more accurate compensation.

Remark: While level compensating at STEADY mode, do not operate level compensation at AUTO mode in
the same channel.

Compensation on cartridge use

When a large volume cartridge (170cc and 340cc) is used for linear dispensing, the dispense line would be
thin because the material runs out and not dispensed soon after start dispensing. In order to avoid this
situation, this product can set the shot pressure to be increased soon after dispensing when coming to the
predetermined shot period.
Set Cm on edit screen CA, and enter the following data.
6 digits from the left: Shot numbers to operate
3 digits in the center: Time to increase the pressure (00.000sec)
2 digits from the right: Ratio increasing for the setting pressure (%)

These compensations cannot be carried out at the same time.

10.1 RS232C Communication

The shot control procedure and communication example at RS232C are as follows:

※ Refer 7.6 RS232C mode about RS232C communication.

RS232C Shot Control Procedure

One example for communication flow of the setting data is stated below:
① The sender transmits the signal (transmission request signal ‘ENQ’) to the
receiver.
② The receiver transmits the signal to receive the transmission (EOT).
③ On receiving the signal to receive, the sender transmits the data (N bite).
④ The receiver carries out ‘Check-sum’ calculation after receiving the data. After
completing of receiving the data, the acknowledgment signal (ACK) is transmitted. If
there are some errors, Non-acknowledgment signal (NAK) is transmitted.
⑤ Receiving the acknowledgment signal by the sender is the completion of transmission.

The sender stops the transmission because of timeout when the sender does not receive the
acknowledgment signal or Non-acknowledgment signal within 10 seconds after transmitting the
transmission request signal. The receiver stops the transmission by sending Non-acknowledgment
signal because of timeout when the receiver does not receive the all data within 10 seconds after
receiving the signal to receive.

Non-acknowledgment signal is transmitted by the receiver on the following cases:

Case 1.: At the above ② case, not stand prepared to receive.
Case 2.: During receiving the data, the status error, the time over error or check-sum error
occurs.

Countermeasures for errors in RS232C Communication
Two types of error during dispensing might occur when RS232C Communication is operating. The
causes and countermeasures are stated below.

① Warnings during dispensing

The empty alarm or remaining condition of count up might occur during continuous dispense
operation by means of RS232C Communication. The error command in this case is the only
command, which occurs irrelevant to the Host command. The Host computer should stop
transmission when received the command from ACCURA 9.

ACCURA9 HOST
Error message is shown on the screen.

Receive error message from

ACCURA9.
Transmit the error detail Transmit alarm-clear conmand

Transmit next command after

releasing error by ACCURA9.
Transmit error detail

② Error in communication: (The error in below may occur in any reason.)

n Status error : When parity error, overrun error or framing error occur
o Time over error : It occurs if communication can not finish within 10 seconds
from the beginning.
p Check sum error : It occurs when there is difference between check sum value which is
sent from Host computer and calculated value from received data for
ACCURA 9 in received treatment.

However, above-mentioned error is rarely occurred if the communication setting and operation between
the Host computer and ACCURA 9 are properly done. When the error is occurred, it may be
impossible to transmit the error message command. In this case, please perform the following
procedure to release the failure condition of RS232C communication.

n Press the CLR RESET key and release the failure condition. (ACCURA 9 does not transmit the
error content (released ) command.)
o Check and fix the defects in the communication setting of the Host computer and ACCURA 9.
p Resume the communication from the Host computer.
