Programming Interface Cable description (PC programming cable: Option accessories)

IMG- The programming interface cable is connected the A-600 with the computer. It has a circuit in its
D-sub connector (9-pin) case that converts the RS-232C logic level to the TTL level. The
programming interface cable connects the side panel jacks of the A-600 to the computer’s RS-232C
serial port.

Programming software description

8
ABELL A600 VHF Service Manual Ver1.0

After installing programming software of A-600, users are allowed to programe the transceiver
with programming cable.

Programming with PC
If data is transferred to the transceiver from a personal computer with software provide by ABELL, all the data
(basic radio information) can be modified. Normally, it is not necessary to modify the data because their
information is determined automatically when the frequency range (frequency type) is set. The data should be
modified when necessary. Data can be programmed into the EEPROM in RS-232C format via the SP MIC plug.
In this mode, the PTT cable’s function is the same as receiver and transition cable.

5.3.1 RF amplifier
RF signals generated from U2 go through buffer amplifier Q19, signal amplified by Q19
transfers to the pre-amplifier Q18, and then amplified by driver amplifier Q4 and reach sent to
the final stage power Q3 whose output amplifier is 4W (RF power amplifiers output 4W when
the radio is set to produce high power, RF power amplifier output generated 1.5W when set in
the low-power)

5.3.2 Antenna switch open and LPF

Before the RF signal reaches the antenna terminal, the RF amplifier output signal transmit /
receive switching circuit by D1, D3, D2 and D5, then through the L29, L30 and L28. LPF to
remove harmonics fed to the antenna. D1, D3, D2 and D5 is on in transmit mode (turn), and off
(isolated) in receive mode

5.3.3 Power control

(1) Power control
Power control circuit, to stabilize the transmitter output power by detecting RF amplifier (Q4,
Q3). The current change brings voltage change of R87, R88, and R89, this voltage send to
differential amplifier IC101 (2/2). IC101 (1/2) compare the voltage comes from IC101 (2/2) and
microprocessor (U1) setting voltage. Voltage comes from IC101 (1/2) control RF amplifier

3 scan mode off or programmed to "scan" function key, the scan state.

Scanning process:

Scan order:

1 non-priority channel receiver (to the flyback period) -> priority channel (not receiving a signal)
-> non-priority channel receiver (to the flyback period)

2 non-priority channel receiver (flyback period to) -> priority channel (received signal) -> (not
receiving a signal and the receiver delay time to) -> non-priority channel receiver (to retrace
period)

Time Scan:

In scan mode, the received signal will cause the stop, stop time and cause, after the scan time to
the next channel. Scan cycle has been scanned for all channels.

Scan response:

Response types: priority; finally received the call channel; last used channel; the first to add a
scan channel

Selected: he encoder transmits the selected channel.

Priority: In the scanning process, to set the priority channel response

Selected

Radio returns to the channel selected before scan begins.

Selected+Current channel

In the scanning process, the beginning channel is as the selected and current channel; during the
scan staying period, selected and current channel is the one staying.

Radio will transmit in the selected channel if press PTT after scan regain.

Selected and current channel is very important if users hope to transmit in the selected channel
but need to response to all the call from other channels.

last received channel

22
ABELL A600 VHF Service Manual Ver1.0

In the scanning process, last received channel is the one stayed recently. During the scan staying
period, last received channel is the one staying. If scan never stay, last received channel is the
first one.

Last transmitted channel

Last transmitted channel is the one transmits recently in scan mode.

Priority: In the scanning process, set priority channel to reply

Priority + Talk: Before stop at a certain channel, the channel for launch as a priority channel. If
a certain channel is selected after the scan, then use this channel for launch

.6.2.2 TOT parameter

You can set the maximum period of time that the radio is allowed to transmit continuously. When
the programmed time expires, the radio generates a warning tone and stops transmitting.
Range: 15 - 600 s
Steps data: 15s
Default: 30s
Off: shut off

TOT Pre-Alert Time[s]

You can configure the time when the radio generates a "Pre-Alert tone",
before the TOT (Time Out Timer) expires.
TOT will expire when the selected time passes after a "Pre-Alert Tone".
Range: 0 - 15 s
Default: 0.

TOT Reset Time[s]

Within the TOT reset time, and before TOT expires,

the TOT continues counting down if transmission has occurred,
or else TOT recounts from zero.
Range: 0 – 15 s
Default: 0.

TOT Resend Time[s]

You can configure the time from when the transmission is inhibited after
the TOT expires to when the transmission is enabled.
The Warning Tone sounds when pressing [PTT] before the TOT Rekey Timer expires.
Range: 1 - 15 s
Default:0.

6.3 VOX parameter

VOX delay time

23
ABELL A600 VHF Service Manual Ver1.0

The end part of call may be able to be correctly sent if the radio enters into receiving mode after
finishing transmits without delay. To avoid this problem, you can configure a proper delay time
to ensure the completely transmit but make sure the delay is not too long.

Rang: 0.5-10.0s

VOX gain level

VOX transmits automatically when voice level is higher than setted VOX gain level.

Range: 1-9s

Default data: off

OFF: close gain level

VOX Cancel Operation:

Determine whether to cancel VOX by pressing PTT

Choose "disabled": cancel VOX by pressing PTT

Non-choose "enable": can't cancel VOX by pressing PTT

Default data: Non-choose

VOX Precede Tone:

The VOX Proceed Tone sounds when MIC Mute is no longer activated, allowing the user to
transmit using VOX.
You can enable/ disable the VOX Proceed Tone.

VOX Inhibit on Receive:

This function allows you to inhibit the VOX transmission when the transceiver emits the
received tone signal in order to prevent the VOX function error.

Choose "valid": inhibit the VOX transmission

Non-choose "invalid": VOX transmission
