Chapter 1 Introduction
Overview
Energy Management Paradigm Shift from Main Load to Branch Load
In the energy low-cost era, total energy management centered on switchgear panels such as main feeder
(from feeder to ABS) for stable power supply played an important role. However, there is an increasing
demand to manage the branch load electrical energy in manufacturing plants, IDC centers, and the
distribution boards of buildings when the energy costs rise sharply and the CO2 emission reduction policy is
implemented in 2015.
Limit of Applying the Switchgear Panel Digital Power Meter to Distribution Panel
To apply the digital power meter which is long used in the existing switchgear panel to distribution panel has
had the limit caused by narrow space, hazardous wiring of voltage and current, and high installation cost.
This fundamentally makes it difficult for energy management supervisor to access to the energy information of
branch loads in distribution panel.
Distribution Panel Digital Power Meter Specialized for Branch Load Management
Distribution panel digital power meter comprises both Accura 2300S[digital power meter] which is mounted
on front of distribution panel, and Accura 2350[power measuring module] which is mounted in branch loads
inside the panel. Accura 2300S collects power data from several Accura 2350s on RS-485 communication
and displays measurements of only one Accura 2350 selected on its LCD screen. This provides energy
management supervisor with the power quality information of branch loads which was impossible to identify.
Accura 2350-1P3FSC Single-phase Three Feeder Power Measuring Module, Suitable for Data Center
Distribution Panel Having Multiple Single-phase Feeders
Data center distribution panel has multiple single-phase feeders of the same current capacity. Accura 2350-
1P3FSC single-phase three feeder power measuring module measures three single-phase feeders of the same
current capacity at the same time. Installation time and cost can be drastically reduced comparing to
installment of Accura 2350-1P[1PSC] single-phase power measuring module.
1. Single-phase three feeder power measuring module can increase the error of up to ± 1% reading value depending on
the penetration position of power cable.

1P2U Single-phase 2-wire [1P2W]
1
3P3O 3-Phase 3-wire Open-Delta [3P3O]
1. “3P3O” is setup menu for some older Accura 2300 that is not supported for 3P3W voltage connection in Accura 2300
for 3-phase 3-wire voltage connection. It works as 3P3W connection even if it is set to 3P3O connection.
PT Rating
Ratio of primary and secondary line-to-line voltage ratio is used as conversion ratio for primary voltage.
Regardless of voltage connection for measurement, always PT primary and secondary line-to-line voltage
should be input.
1. d decimal
Primary and secondary line-to-line voltage for each connection method is as follows. In case of direct
connection without using PT, primary and secondary line-to-line voltage should be input as the same value.
Neutral-line is the center point between Line1 and Line2, and must be connected to V1, V3, VN terminals.
Reference Voltage
This reference voltage is referred as the reference voltage value for Dip[Sag]/Swell detection. Reference
voltage should be primary voltage value, does not have to be the same value with the rating voltage and the
value that is the real reference may be input. In case of 3P4W or 1P3W setup, primary line-to-line voltage or
line-to-neutral voltage can be selectively input.
1. It can be selected only for 3P4W and 1P3W connection, but it is fixed to line-to-line voltage in other connection.
2. d decimal number.
Demand Sub-interval
Accura 2300S uses sliding window demand power calculation method.
Demand time[minute]= Demand sub-interval x Number of demand sub-interval
ex] For the case with 15-minute demand time, demand sub-interval is 15-minute and number of demand
sub-interval is 1. Refer to “Chapter 5>Demand Measurement” for details.
Energy Scale
The unit of accumulated energy can be set to kWh or Wh. When converting from kWh to Wh, multiply the
accumulated energy by 1000, and conversely, when converting from Wh to kWh, It is converted into an
integer value after dividing by 1000.
Event [EVENT]
Dip Event
In case of configuring Dip event as “on”, the screen that configures Dip start voltage and end voltage are
displayed. In case of configuring Dip event as “oFF”, the screen immediately moves to Swell event setup
screen.
Swell Event
In case of configuring Swell event as “on”, the screen that configures Swell start voltage and Swell end voltage
are displayed. In case of configuring Swell event as “oFF”, the screen immediately moves to reference voltage
percentage setup screen.
Temperature Event
Temperature of Accura 2300S side temperature sensor is different from the actual temperature in the
distribution panel due to temperature difference of the measured value depending on the number of Accura
2350 connected to Accura 2300S, so caution is required when setting the temperature event. When the
temperature event is set to on, a screen for setting the start temperature and end temperature are displayed. If
the temperature event is set to off, setup screen moves to current event setup screen directly.
Start Temperature
Temperature start event is generated when measured temperature goes above start temperature.
End Temperature
Temperature end event is generated when measured temperature returns below the end temperature.
Hysteresis exists between start temperature and end temperature to prevent a large number of short events
and minimum Hysteresis is 1%. In other words, end temperature can be configured at least 1% lower than
start temperature. If start temperature is configured lower than end voltage, end temperature is automatically
reconfigured 1% lower than start temperature.
Current Event
When the current event is set to on, the screens that configure start current, end current and current delay time
are displayed. If the current event is set to off, setup screen moves to leakage current event setup screen.
Start Current
Current start event is generated when measured current goes above start current and maintains upward status
for exceeding current delay time.
End Current
Current end event is generated when the measured current returns below the end current. Hysteresis exists
between start current and end current to prevent a large number of short events and minimum Hysteresis is
1%. In other words, end current can be configured at least 1% lower than the start current. If start current is
configured lower than end voltage, end current is automatically reconfigured 1% lower than start current.
Power Event
Selects and activates power event for total or each phase for the power event. In case of each phase, the event
for the all each phase is detected, and in case of total, the event only for the total power is detected.
Start Power
Power start event is generated if the measured power goes above the start power and maintains upward status
for exceeding power delay time. Start power level can be configured as percentage or power value.
End Power
Power end event is generated if the measured power goes below end power. Hysteresis exists between start
power and end power to prevent short and several event generations. So, the end power should be
configured at least 1% lower than the start power. If the start power is configured lower than the end power,
end power is automatically reconfigured 1% lower than the start power. End power level can be configured as
percentage or power value.
1P3FSC DI Event
There are 4 digital input[DI] at Accura 2350-1P3FSC-DIZCT option module and the event configuration for
this contact input is possible. The configuration through Accura 2300S is commonly applied to all connected
Accura 2350-1P3FSC-DIZCT option module and DI event for each option module is possible through the
communication or option module.

Since there is no actual neutral point in the 3-phase 3-wire voltage connection, only the line-to-line voltage
and the total power can be known, and the actual voltage and the electric power for each phase cannot be
known. However, it is possible to obtain the virtual center point at which the residual voltage of the 3-phase
voltage becomes zero, and regard it as the neutral point, thereby obtaining the voltage per phase and the
power per phase.

The apparent power for each phase is calculated by the magnitude of the vector sum of the active power and
the reactive power.
Calculate the apparent power for each phase by multiplying the RMS voltage by the RMS current. The RMS
values of voltage and current contain harmonic components.

Demand Measurement
Demand
Demand time(Tdmd) is determined by the product of “Demand Sub-Interval(Tsub)” and “Number of Sub-
Interval(Nsub)”. A demand value is calculated by processing an average value for a demand time(Tdmd)
while sliding at demand sub-interval time(Tsub). Peak demand is the maximum value among the demand
values after the max/min reset, and it is initialized by max/min reset.
Demand time(Tdmd) [min] = Demand Sub-Interval(Tsub) * Number of Sub-Interval(Nsub)
Ex) In Korea[demand time=15 minute], demand sub-interval is 15-minute and number of sub-interval is 1.

Aggregation
Accura 2300S/2350 samples and processes voltage/current every 0.5-seconds and provides basic
measurement data every 0.5-second for a 0.5-second interval. Using the basic 0.5-second data, the
aggregation for longer than 0.5-second is calculated as shown in the figure below. This figure shows the
aggregation for 1-second and 5-second intervals.
Aggregation consists of a average value, a maximum/minimum value, and a time-stamp for maximum/
minimum. Average, maximum/minimum, and time-stamp are generated for each aggregation. The average
value is the average of 0.5-second data during the aggregation interval. The maximum value/minimum value
is the maximum value/minimum value among the 0.5-second data during the aggregation interval.
The time-stamp for the maximum/minimum is the difference time between the start time of the aggregation
and the occurrence time of maximum/minimum value. Therefore, the actual time for maximum/minimum can
be obtained by adding the aggregation start time and the difference time of the time-stamp.
Fixed aggregation
Accura 2300S provides six aggregations from aggregation 1 through 6 with fixed aggregation interval[1-
second, 5-second, 1-minute, 5-minute, 1-hour, 6-hour]. In fixed aggregation, the offset time for the beginning
of the aggregation interval is fixed to zero. That is, the start of the aggregation interval is fixed to start at 0
hour 0 minute 0 second. To set the offset time to a non-zero value, you should use customed aggregation.
The measurement values displayed on Accura 2300S LCD screen are 2-second aggregation values updated
every 0.5-second, and these are provided by communication through aggregation 201 setup.
Also, the Max/Min value after the user-reset displayed on Accura 2300S LCD screen is the Max/Min values
among the 0.5-second measurement values, and these are provided by communication through aggregation
202 setup.
Aggregation name Aggregation interval Buffer length Buffering time Circular index
Aggregation 0 0.5-second (base) 120 60 seconds 0-9999
Aggregation 1 1-second 32 32 seconds 0-9999
Aggregation 2 5-second 12 60 seconds 0-9999
Aggregation 3 1-minute 12 12 minutes 0-9999
Aggregation 4 5-minute 10 50 minutes 0-9999
Aggregation 5 1-hour 10 10 hours 0-9999
Customed aggregation
Accura 2300S provides 5 customized aggregations 11 to 15 that allow the user to arbitrarily set the offset
time for the aggregation interval and the interval start.
If the offset setting is 0, the start of the aggregation interval corresponds to 0: 0: 0: 0. For example, if you
want to collect average data at 1 hour intervals at 10 minutes of each hour, you can select one of
aggregations 11 to 15, set the aggregation interval for this aggregation to 3600 seconds, and set the
aggregation offset time to 600 seconds.
Aggregation name Aggregation interval Buffer length Buffering time Circular index
Aggregation 11 default 3-second 22 66 seconds 0-9999
Aggregation 12 default 15-minute 12 180 minutes 0-9999
Aggregation 13 default 2-hour 10 20 hours 0-9999
Aggregation 14 default 12-hour 10 120 hours 0-9999
Aggregation 15 default 1-day 10 10 days 0-9999
Event aggregation
If activated event is detected, measurement data during 3-frame[at the time of generation/before 0.5-
second/after 0.5-second] is indexed and stored separately into “Aggregation 200” space. By collecting the
stored event aggregation data[measurement data/1-cycle RMS voltage], detailed analysis of situation
before/after the time of event generation can be done.
Aggregation name Aggregation interval Buffer length Buffering time Circular index
1
Aggregation 200 1.5-seconds 100 - 0-999
1. If activated event is detected, measurement data during 3-frame[at the time of generation/before 0.5-second/after 0.5-
second] is stored at circular buffer.
