Eagle Quantum™
UV/IR Flame Detector
EQ2200UVIR

DESCRIPTION
The Eagle Quantum EQ2200UVIR Flame Detector is
designed to provide reliable fire protection in
applications where ultraviolet (UV) or infrared (IR)
radiation sources are present. When used alone, a UV
detector can respond to sources of ultraviolet radiation
besides fire, such as lightning, x-rays or arc welding.
Likewise, an IR detector can respond to various hot
objects, such as flickering or chopped radiation from
electric heaters or exhaust manifolds. The
microprocessor based EQ2200UVIR combines both a
UV and an IR sensor in a single detector and requires
simultaneous response of both sensors to generate a
fire alarm. These two detecting elements monitor
different portions of the radiation spectrum and have
virtually no common sources of false alarms. This
enables the detector to respond to a real fire while

ignoring potential false alarm sources.
Visual indication of detector status is provided by a pair
of red LEDs that are visible through the viewing window

of the UV sensor.
When a fire is detected, a signal is immediately sent
along the communication loop to the gateway and logic Table 1 indicates the condition of the LEDs for each
