Animals

I found some interesting animals in south Africa: The big five, a group of animlas, the bat-eared fox, the
bushpig and the black mamba. About the big five, like I’ve already said, this is a group formed by lion,
elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. They are called like that because some years ago there was a
competition among hunters, who hunted the biggest number of these big, quick and aggressive animal was
the winner. But everyone know these animals, so I’m going to focus on the other animals I found. The first
animal I wanna talk about is the bat-eared fox: it’s so particular because, like its name have already said, is
a fox with the ears of a bat. It isn’t so big, it has a long tail and slender limbs and is weight is about 4 and 5
kg. The second animal is the bushpig: it’s like a common pig, with a weight from 45 to 120 kg, and its body
is long from 100 to 120 cm, but the think that distinguishes it is its color: indeed it can be yellow or orange,
with some white particulars on the ears and long the spinal cord. The last animal is the black mamba: is a
snake that reaches the 4 m of length and is the quickest snake in the world, in fact it can reach 20 km/h.
Obviously the color of this animal is black and its nickname is “death shadow” because of its speed, agility
and its poison that is very dangerous for us and the other animals.

Famous people

The most famous people of south Africa are: Charlize Theron, Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Charlize
Theron is an actress born in 1975, that had a part in a lot of famous films, like Fast and Furious 8, Mad Max:
Fury Road, and Atomic Blonde. She also earned a lot of awards, for example the Golden globe, the Silver
Bear and she had to nominations for the Oscar for the best actress. The other one is Nelson Mandela, born
in 1918, he was the first black president of south Africa, and, after he spent 27 years in prison because he
was fighting to eliminate the Apartheid, he won the Nobel for peace in 1993. The last one is Desmond tutu:
he was born in 1931 and he was the first bishop of the Anglican Cape Town church. He fought, like
Mandela, to avoid the Apartheid and to eliminate racism and sexism. He is famous also for a phrase:
“rainbow nation”, used to describe peaceful and harmonious coexistence between the different ethnic
groups of south Africa.
