FIELD TRIP

• Only classroom instructions cannot bring the all around development of child.
To widen the sphere of mental level of the child should be given change to get
direct and first hand experience to see the things himself.
• “The child is to be given to universe if he is to be properly educated.

INTRODUCTION

Field trip will be designated as follows:


• Regular curricular and Extra-curricular Trips
These trips are subject to the approval of the teacher, principal and
parent. The duration of regular trips will not exceed two school days.
• Extended Trips
These trips are subject to the approval of the teacher, principal, parent
and superintendent. The duration of extended trips will not exceed three school days.
• Special and International Trips
These trips are subject to the approval of the school board.
Application for a group to participate in an extended field trip must made be
on the prescribed form a minimum of eight weeks in advance of the planned
event.
OBJECTIVES
• The objective of the field trip is to provide first hand observation and
experience.
• Knowledge as regards to all those things can be provided ,which cannot be
shown in the class-room easily.
• To create interest in the students about different subjects.
• To draw conclusions from the exercises conducted in natural environment.
• To exhibit relation between theoretical and practical knowledge.
• To develop the observation power of students.
• To teach the students to make proper /good use of vacation.
BENEFITS

• Hands on, real world experiences.


• Quality of education, positive attitudes to science and motivation towards the
subject.
• Improvement of the socialisation between students, which would impinge on the
classroom, and development of rapport between teachers and students.
• Enabling teachers to utilise other learning strategies such as cooperative learning.
LIMITATIONS

• At least whole day is required for the field trip, it is not possible to conduct in
few hours.
• Co-operation is required between teacher and students for its success.
• There can be accidents during ‘ field trip ‘.
• There should be enough finances for ‘ field trip ‘.
STEPS TO MAKE EXCURSIONS SUCCESSFUL

• Plan :
Look for a destination or an experience that builds on children’s interests.Then
ask yourself; It is compatible with children’s attention spans? Will there be
long lines? places to sit? Are there many “do-not- touch” templations? what
will children gain from the experience?.
• Experience :
It possible, take the trip yourself before hand. Check to make sure it meets
your criteria for a success ful experience.
• Focus:
Trips mean so much more when children are prepared for
the experience. Many trips also lend themselves to culminating
activities, such as drawings, erthibits, classbooks, and photo
albums.
• Prepare :
Talk about rules: who will walk together, how to behave on
the bus, and the number the bus taking you back.
• Include :
Along with permission slips, send home information about
were you‘re going and why, what children shoud wear and bring,
the lost, departure and arrival times, lunch provisions, and
transportation.
• Support :
Give each volunter informational sheets stating when to arrive,
where to go, what to wear and bring, how to reach you before hand
with any bring, how to reach you before hand with any questions, and
goals for the trip.
• Record:
When you get back, got down your thoughts high points, tips
to remember. Great conducts – for your field trip fice. This way, you’ll
have information to use another year and to share with other
teachers.
RESPONSIBILITY OF STUDENTS IN THE FIELD TRIP
• The students should have complete knowledge of the objectives of the trip
and other aspects of the trip before hand.
• They should follow the instructions given to them carefully.
• They should follow the safety rules.
• They should behave in a dignified manner.
• After careful observation, they should note down their problems and doubts
and clarify them during discussion session.
• During the trip, as and when required, they should clarify the things from the
teacher of trip incharge or any responsible person.
• The students should keep studying after the trip also.
ADVANTAGES

• The students obtain actual knowledge in natural surroundings.


• All the students undergo similar experiences which they can utilize to occur
new knowledge.
• The students develop the quality of mutual cooperation.
• The students learn a lot of things which may help in changing their attitudes.
• It gives an opportunity to the students to perform practicals independently
which come under theoretical knowledge.
• It familarises the students with the needs and the problems of a group and
find solution to them.
• It gives relief from daily classroom teaching when students spend a few hours
in an informal atmosphere.
• It motivates the students to learn science and stimulate their interests.
• It provides opportunity for correlation.
• It develops leadership, self confidence in students.
DISADVANDAGES
• The school program is disturbed.
• Only a few students can understand the purpose of trip. The students wander here
and there near the place of visit.
• These trips may prove to be expensive.
• students and teachers have to face a lot of convenience for food, route and
transport.
• Sometimes healthy atmosphere is not created among students and teachers in the
trip.
EVALUATION

• The Feedback given by students as regards to the successful of the


field trip should be counter-checked by a check-list.
