positions in Central Technical Institutes.
1am directed to refer to your letter No. DO/2/07 dated 10" july, 2007 and to furnish
the following clarifications:

Subject: Enhancement iz the age of Superannuation from 62 to 65 years for
faculty positions in 1 Technical Institutes,
Sir,
Lam directed to say that at the time of revision of pay scales of teacivers in Central
Technical Institutions, it was provided, inter-elia, in this Ministry's letter of even no. dated
31.07.1998, that the age of superannuation of teachers would be 62 years and thereafter no
extension in service should be given. However, it will be open to the Institute to re-employ a
superannuated teacher according to the existing provision(s) in the Statutes/MOA and
Rules/Scheme, Regulations and Bye-laws of the Institute as the case may be.
2, The mater has been reviewed by the Central Government in the light of the existing
shortage in teaching positions in the Central Institutions in Higher and Technical Education
under this Ministry. Accordingly, it has been decided that-
‘The age of superannuation of all persons who were holding teaching positions on
reguiar employment against sanctioned posts as on 15.03.2007 in all the Central
Institutes in Technical Education shell be increased from present 62 years to 65 years.

Persons holding such regular teaching positions who have superannueted prior to
15.03.2007 on attaining the age of 62 years but have not attained the age of 65 years,~*

4. The enhancement in the age of superannuation from 62 to 65 years as stated
above «would be applicable only to persons in teaching positions, repeat’ teaching
positions, whose age of superannuation wes 62 years.
