Introduction of learners:

Internationally, I have taught learners of different nationalities including

Sudanese, Saudis, Indians, Indonesians, Malaysians, Palestinians, Egyptians,
Yeminis, Syrians and Pakistanis. All had different social, economic, historical
language and cultural backgrounds. These variations provided me grounds not
only to teach them but also to learn about their culture, traditions ,history and
language. No doubt all were the learners under one roof but I found their
approaches differ in learning on the base of their culture, social and language
variance. The basis barrier in their learning was their mother tongue .However,
using English as means of communication served as a bridge among all of them. In
Pakistan International School, no doubt, I have taught Pakistanis but they also
differed from one another in few aspects as they belonged to all provinces of
Pakistan .Even Afghanis and Kashmiris were also included among them. Up till
2018,I have taught to the learners of age group 12-20.In 2019,I joined Roots
Millennium School, Kingsbury Campus where I was given an opportunity to teach
to the learners of age group 6-7. Initially, I found it difficult to teach this age
group but with guidance of my co teacher, I started enjoying teaching young
learners. It has brought a great change not only in my personality but also I learnt
new teaching strategies specially after getting certificate of MEYP. Now, I am
teaching to the learners of the same age group in Roots Millennium School,
Kingsbury Campus. I feel happier than before while teaching this age group as
compared to my previous experience with the learners of age group of 12-20.

 I have taught learners of age group 7-14. No doubt all belong to one nation but
still they are different from one another regarding their social, economic back
ground and mother tongue. Even they are different if I consider them in light of
learning domains. Cognitively, God gifted intelligence is counted a lot but family
background and language affect it also. The learners of educated families show
more cognitive and behavioral grooming and development as compared to those
learners who are not paid any attention from their parents. Physically, all learners
are not on same level. The learners who are allergy patients have to suffer a lot
specially when season changes. My learners at this level
1. Know how to count by 2s (2, 4, 6, 8, and so on) and 5s (5, 10, 15, 20, and so
on).
2. Know what day of the week it is and what the month of the year it is…..
3. Can read simple sentences with fluency.
4. Complete simple two -digit addition and subtraction problems with
regrouping (such as……).
5. They have desire for increased independence from parents and siblings,
and their increased desire to be seen as intelligent and knowledgeable. As
they struggle to find the means to appropriately individuate, they can, at
times, seem willful or rebellious.
6. At age level of 8-9 my learners’ curiosity and enthusiasm to explore new
things continues to grow. Friends are more important. They enjoy playing
and being with peers. Break and game period is their favorite “subject” in
school. They are also beginning to be aware of adults as individuals and are
inquisitive about what they do at work. Around the house or at child care,
they can be quite helpful.

7. Their concept of a liberated self is developing. They emphasize on

their individuality. They expected to learn and read and to get along
with others. They need support in their efforts so that they will have a
desire for achievement. Parents ‘and teachers’ expectations can have
a big impact on them. If they are not doing well in school, explain to
them that everyone learns at a different pace, and that tiny
improvements make a difference. I tell them that the most important
thing is to do their best. They can be guided for ways to help at home.
Problems in reading and writing should be handled now to avoid more
trouble later. And busy eight-year-olds are usually hungry! So special
attention must be paid to their eating habits.
