PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE GROUP
THE Philosophy of Science Group of the British Society for the History
of Science is a body of which the purpose is described by the following
statement from its Constitution and Rules :
' The purpose of the Group is to study the logic and method of
science as well as of the various special sciences, including the social
sciences. The main emphasis is upon an approach through the various
special sciences to the philosophy of science.'
The Group holds meetings, at which papers are read and discussed,
approximately once a month during term. A summary of its pro-
ceedings is published in the Bulletin of the British Society for the History
of Science.
Ordinary membership is open to all persons who have been
proposed by two members, approved by the Committee, and elected
at an ordinary meeting. The annual subscription is ios. 6d. Members
of the British Society for the History of Science may become members
of the Group without further subscription.
