EIC4 – Test Format and Content (Online)

Textbook: English File Intermediate 3e, Units: 6-10

There are TWO major tests in a semester: Midterm and Final. For each major test, the Speaking Test and the Written Test are conducted on two separate dates.
Students have 90 minutes for the online Midterm and the online Final Tests.

A. Written Test

The Written Test contains 5 sections: Listening, Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading and Writing for a total of 80 marks.

Writing Students can choose ONE of the two tasks to complete the composition for a maximum score of 20 marks. The two tasks are taken from a list of

B. Speaking Test

Students can get a maximum score of 20 marks.


Each student makes a 4-minute video to give a short talk based on the given topic and answer follow-up questions.
The student’s performance is scored on the scale of 0 to 20 marks, based on 4 criteria: fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.

*Note: - The Speaking Test & Written Test are conducted on two separate dates.
