1. Why are the girls at greater risk of sexual violence and exploitation?

Girls have the greater risk of sexual violence and exploitation, because in our history women are the
only ones who cannot go to school. And being uneducated during the old times, plays a vital role to
determine your position in the society. If you are uneducated, you are only in home doing chores
and the likes. Women have the great risk on these things, because men thinks that women are
emotionally, physically and mentally weak. We live a society of the Machismo culture wherein male
exhibits an overbearing attitude to anyone in a position he perceives as inferior to his, demanding
complete subservience.

We often think that women are incapacitated to all those things or task that male people enjoyed.
We think that women have no dignity and voice that is why it is easy for men to play women’s
feeling and do these horrible things in them. Now that we live in a present society, where majority
are educated, attended some seminars regarding Gender Equality, and the likes. Let us break this
stigma and idea that women are not capable, women are weak, women are puppet, women are just
caregivers. Let us break this small thinking and treatment to them, promote gender equality and
gender sensitivity for everyone regardless of gender and sex.

2. What can be done to make cities safer for women and girls?

To make our cities safer for women and girls, we need a city where they may enjoy public places
and public life without fear of being assaulted. A city where violence against women and girls is
not practiced in the home or on the street. A city where women and girls are not discriminated
against and their economic, social, political, and cultural rights are protected. A city in which
women participate in making decisions that impact the community in which they reside. A city in
which the state protects all people's human rights without discriminating against women and
girls. A city in which the state and municipal governments work together to address, prevent,
and punish violence against women and girls. And a city in which the state and municipal
governments ensure equal access to justice for women and girls.
