I froget who it was that recommended men for their soul’s good to do each day two things they dislike: it
was a wise man, and it is precept that I have followed scrupulously; for every day I have got up and I have
gone to bed.

There seemed to me something alarming in such easy delights. In my heart was a desire to live more
dangerously.

I do not know what infinite yearning possesses you, so that you are driven to a perilous, lonely search for
some goal where you except to find a final release from the spirit that torments you.

Sometimes a man hits upon a place to which he mysteriously feels that he belongs. Here is the home he
sought , and he will settle amid scenes that he was never seen before, among men he was never known, as
though they were familiar to him from his birth. Here at last find rest.
5.
The world was full of odd persons, who did odd things; and perhaps they knew that a man is not what he
wants to be , but what he wants to be.
