For the CONFLICTS

There are several conflicts found in this play. Shakespeare provide some internal and external conflicts.

First is the internal conflict between HAMLET and HIMSELF: It happens when the spirit of his father
shows up and he asks hamlet to take revenge for his death.
That’s why he pretend that he is insane para Hindi mahalata
ni King Claudius na may idea na siya sa pagkamatay ng father niya.

His father tells the truth to hamlet who killed him and Kung paano siya pinatay. His father wants him to kill
King Claudius. However, Hamlet was having a hard time in deciding whether he will do it or not .

OPHELIA vs HERSELF.

Ophelia had an internal conflict of her own, wondering if she should disobey her father and brother
by leaving Hamlet, or if she should continue her relationship with him or let him go. She’s also
having a hard time deciding what the right thing to do, which causes her anxiety, and it gets worse
after knowing that her father was murdered by Hamlet. She falls in the river and drowns herself to
death. In other words, she committed suicide to get away from her hardships.

HAMLET vs. KING CLAUDIUS

External conflict arises between Hamlet and King Claudius when the spirit of his father appears and
tells him the truth. At first, Hamlet was reluctant, doubting whether the ghost was telling the truth or
not, so he decided to investigate to know the truth with the help of travelling actors na kakilala niya

and wrote a play describing his father's murder in front of the new King, Claudius, and Queen
Getrude. Hamlet has many chances to kill King Claudius, Like during King Claudius's prayer,
Hamlet has a chance to kill him, but he doesn’t do it because, for him, if he killed Claudius while
praying, he would go to heaven instead of hell, and he does not want to grant him that opportunity.
Hamlet's performance in that play enrages King Claudius, and in order for the people in the castle to
be unaware of his tremendous sin of murder, he sends Hamlet to England. During his journey, he
discovers that Claudius has a plan to have him killed once he arrives. He returns to Denmark alone,
sending his companions Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to their deaths in his place.
on the other hand, devises a plan to exact revenge on Claudius for the murder of his father. At the end of the
play nagkaroon ng sword fighting between Hamlet and Laertes, The king wants Laertes to use his sharp
poisoned sword and he will also add poison to the wine if the fist plan did not work out. Laertes agree to the
King's plan and ready to avenge his father and sisters death. When the duel starts, nasagutan ni Laertes si
Hamlet pero hindi yun enough para mamatay siya agad, Si Laertes naman ay nasugatan niya ang kanyang
sarili na naging dahilan ng pagkamatay niya, While Hamlet stabbed King Claudius and forced him to
drink poisoned wine.

RESOLUTION
The sword-fighting begins. Hamlet scores the first hit, and King Claudius offers him a drink but he declined.
Instead, Gertrude takes a drink from it and is swiftly killed by the poison. Laertes succeeds in wounding
Hamlet, though Hamlet does not die of the poison immediately. Laertes is cut by his own sword’s blade, and,
after revealing to Hamlet that Claudius is responsible for the queen’s death, he dies from the blade’s poison.
Hamlet then stabs Claudius with the poisoned sword and forces him to drink down the rest of the poisoned
wine. Claudius dies, and Hamlet dies, leaving only his friend Horatio to explain the truth to the new king,
Fortinbras, as he returns in victory from the Polish wars.
THEMES

Madness

One of Hamlet's main themes is madness. Since his father's death, Hamlet has shown many sides
of his personality. He appears as a philosopher, sage, insane, and mentally ill individual. He also
claims that there is a "method in my madness," implying that he is insane but only in his desire to
show his pain to others. He wanted them to see and understand how tough it was for him to deal with
things like betrayal and grief. That is precisely why King Claudius fears his madness, fearing that it
will reveal his crime of killing Old Hamlet.

On the other hand, pinakita ni hamlet kay Ophelia na wala siya sa kanyang katinuan and she believes
that Hamlet is really insane. Sa part naman ni Polonius kinonsider niya na it is a case of love
madness, while Getrude considers it only madness. King Claudius, on the other hand, does not
accept any of these opinions and sees his madness as a threat to his throne and life. When Hamlet
exposes him, his worst fears come true.

Revenge

A man who desires revenge should dig two graves, one for himself and for the person
that he is seeking vengeance from. Shakespeare introduced revenge as the main theme
throughout the play.

In the play there are three young men bent on avenging their father’s death. Therefore,
it is a triple revenge story.

HAMLETS REVENGE

Hamlet who wants to avenge his father by killing King Claudius. At first Hamlet did not consider
any payback, until the ghost of his father appear, he was doubting if he would believe in the ghost
because it might be a devil, that why he decided to find out the truth. In order to know truth he
arranged the play with a resemblance to the death of his father, after seeing the reaction of his uncle
he conclude that he is guilty for killing his father.
FORTINBRAS REVENGE
he was determined and motivated to seek revenge because the loss of his father and
the lands to Denmark. According to him revenge can be completed by taking the lands
back from Denmark or by killing Claudius or Hamlet.

LAERTES REVENGE

Laertes who wants also to avenge his father and sisters death by killing Hamlet.

Lesson:

Revenge is not a good human behavior because it can cause suffering to others or to
ourselves and can lead us to death. tulad nalang ng nangyari sa end ng play sa
kagustuhan nilang makapaghiganti namatay silang lahat.zq

The greedy attitude will give a bad effect to everyone and give a loss to someone else.

The greediness of wealth and power can bring someone to do a bad thing, like what
King Claudius did.

I will end our report with a quotation by AARON GROMIS

No matter the reason, revenge causes a cycle that continues and

never ends. It poisons the lives of everyone around you, close to you.
Seeking revenge becomes all that you desire but comes at a hefty
price.
