To recover the learning gaps caused by the Covid 19 Pandemic, this division conceptualized an intervention focused on literacy and numeracy as these posed the significant factors that affected the low performance in the recently conducted Division Achievement Test (DAT) and Regional Achievement Test (RAT). SIKAP sa Pagbasa at Pagkwenta, (Sapat at Inobatibong Kaalaman na Angkop sa Pagpapaunlad) is a project under I-READ Reading Program. It is the main intervention in the Division Learning Recovery Plan for SY 2022-2023 with the following features: a. An inclusion of SIKAP in the Class Program for ONE HOUR, preferably in the morning for Key stage 1, 2 and 3, (grades 1-10) shall be observed. This shall be handled by the Class Adviser with the assistance of the Reading and Math teachers, in case the Class Adviser is not teaching the subject. This scheme is only good for 50 SCHOOL DAYS or ONE QUARTER ONLY. Suggested class program and lessons for Non, Frustration, Instructional and Independent Readers, likewise for Mathematics shall be provided. SIKAP sa Pagbasa shall be conducted every MWF while SIKAP sa Pagkwenta shall be every TTh. Class Adviser shall refrain from giving labels to learners while grouping them as to their level of learning for the purpose of providing them the appropriate learning activities. b. Itis expected that Phil-IRI and Numeracy Diagnostic Test shall be conducted at the start of the school year as baseline of this project. All Math teachers shall prepare 2 MELC- Based Diagnostic Test which covers the first quarter competencies. At the end of the 50- & Pangi, ipl, bga. Day SIKAP Implementation, a Unified Assessment shall be conducted. These will be prepared and quality assured by the SIKAP TWG-WRITERS. To determine the impact of this project, the giving of unified assessment test for second to fourth quarters for literacy and numeracy shall continue. Soft copies of the said materials shall be provided through the PSDSs and DICs. c. All schools shall be provided with copies of the Mapping and Inventory of Acti found in the textbooks and other available learning resources in the schools. This is to lighten the load of teachers in locating for the appropriate learning activities in all competencies found in the MELC. In this regard, maximum utilization of the textbooks is, expected. ies d. Inclusion of SIKAP Project in the school’s initiative focused in literacy and numeracy is enjoined. ©. Capacity building preferably to untrained teachers, Day Care Teachers, parents and community volunteers shall be conducted. £ Development/Preparation of learning resources for literacy and numeracy shall be conducted. EPSs concemed to spearhead. g. Rewards system shall also be part of this endeavor. h, All levels of governance shall promote a culture of literacy and numeracy. Attached are the suggested Class Programs with inclusion of SIKAP Project. Suggested lessons per level of learning for Reading and Math from day 1-50 shall be provided.
