The threat of Global Warming and the ways to counter it.

Healing the planet starts in your garage, in your kitchen, and at your dining
room table.
INTRODUCTION:
HOW GLOBAL WARMING IS A THREAT:
1. Global warming has increased the earth’s average surface temperature to the
worst level.
 Case in study:  NOAA's 2021 Annual Climate Report, which says;
Year 2021 was the sixth warmest year in the world’s history
 European scorching heat wave in July 2022

2. Hot temperatures lead to the horrific droughts

 African drought, 2022 ….. driest on record in the last 7 decades
 Pakistan ( Sindh and Baluchistan faced droughts in April and May, 2022)

3. Chronic wildfires all around the world

 Case in study: Europe wildfires 2022 (Portugal, Spain)
 Australia wildfires 2022

4. Glaciers are melting and sea levels are rising

5. Raised and warm sea waters produces more intense precipitation
 Pakistan’s rain patterns in summer 2022

6. Heavy rainfall causes Flash floods and landslides

 Flash Floods in Pakistan 2022

7. Flood disasters increase the transmission of Viral Diseases

 Diarrheal diseases, Hepatitis A and E
 Air-borne infections
 Vector-borne such as Dengue Fever
Way forwards to counter Global Warming
Preventing global warming is more important than ever, we are the last
generation that can change the course of climate change and first ever to face its
consequences if we don’t act now

1. Spread awareness about global warming

 Social media campaigns
 Research and scientific approach
 Talk out global solutions to the problem
2. Reduce emission of Green House Gases (CO2, CH4, N2O etc.) by 2050
 Paris Climate Accord, 2015
3. Containment of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydro fluorocarbons
(HFCs) in the atmosphere to help repair Ozone layer.
4. Switching to renewable source of energy
 For example: Wind energy, solar energy, hydropower and nuclear power.
5. Limit Deforestation and plant more trees
Trees do more than absorb carbon. When planted in sustainable agroforestry
systems, they result in enhanced biodiversity, water retention, soil health, food
security and economic development for local communities.”
6. Create more sustainable transportation
 Rethink planes, trains, and automobiles
 Electric vehicles than those burning fossil fuels
Conclusion:
INTRODUCTION:
A persistent rise in world’s temperature is threatening life on earth. An
average increase in global temperature of about 1.51 °F according to NASA
and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA’s
temperature data) warmer than 20th century causing 2021 being the warmest
year and still this earth warming trend is continued. Europe faced record
hottest heat wave of last four decades. These deadly heat waves on one hand
leads to driest weather and more frequent and intensive droughts, China’s
drought 2022 is the recent example of global warming, ferocious fires
consequently damaging forest life (major saviors of climate on earth) and on
the other hand causes glaciers and ice caps to melt even more quickly, rising
sea levels. Arctic Ocean is the biggest example of climate change. Hot
temperature leads to more water vapors formation and heavy rainfalls, which
has ultimately increased the chances of flash flood. Recent (2022) flash
flood in Pakistan which has massively damaged the whole country is a
strong evidence of how global warming is a curse. It has changed the
weather patterns in a way that wet areas become wetter and dry areas drier.
This all is threatening our health, our communities, our economy, our
security, and our children’s future. Global warming indeed has proved to
become a serious threat to humanity. As NASA Administrator Bill Nelson
said, Science leaves no room for doubt: Climate change is the existential
threat of our time,” “Eight of the top 10 warmest years on our planet
occurred in the last decade, an indisputable fact that underscores the need for
bold action to safeguard the future of our country and all of humanity.”
CONCLUSION:
Nevertheless, global warming is real and major challenge of our global society. It
has affected all the basic elements of life on earth and already has observable
repercussions including poor access to water, food production, health, and the safe
environment. Hundreds of millions of people are suffering hunger, water shortages
and coastal flooding as the world warms. It demands an immediate global
response. The world must come together to confront global warming.

“Climate change does not respect border; it does not respect who you are — rich
and poor, small and big. Therefore, this is what we call ‘global challenges,' which
require global solidarity.”
