Executive Summary:

Infrastructure on Demand (IoD) is an easy to use self-service web portal allowing users to request and automatically
provision virtual compute resources within a cloud computing infrastructure. Requestors fill out one simple form to create a new
system reducing average provisioning cycle time from 30 days to 30 minutes.

Existing approaches fail to provide a single corporate web portal to access Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud computing
environments. Today, users need to access a variety of cloud computing portals to compare costs. IoD provides a single pane of
glass listing all virtual computing resources deployed within an organization.

This ground breaking technology has several unique features including:

Green IT IoD dynamically computes the amount of energy saved per year based on the number of virtual servers provisioned
within the customer’s cloud computing infrastructure as opposed to deploying an equivalent number of physical systems.
Furthermore, this value is graphed over time and translated into real life savings comparing the number of homes powered by the
energy saved using IoD. This value-added feature shows users and the organization real power savings derived by employing cloud
computing.

Lifecycle Management IT is really good at turning on systems, but not so good at turning them off. To support IT sustainability,
IoD incorporates a full lifecycle management strategy replete with automated workflows notifying users when a virtual machine
needs to be renewed. Failure to renew a resource results in the initiation of a workflow to automatically shut down and
decommission the system. Users are notified six times before the virtual machine is deleted and archived.

Chargeback IoD incorporates a chargeback mechanism enabling IT to charge customers for the resources consumed. Users login
to the IoD portal to review the number of virtual machines requested and their total cost per month.

Dynamic Cost Calculator Users are able to dynamically compute the cost of a virtual machine within IoD before requesting the
creation of said system. A calculator is displayed to users within IoD listing CPU, Memory, Disk and Memory values with adjustable
sliders. Movement of the sliders dynamically changes the cost of the resource per month. This value-added feature allows users
to procure the amount of resources they can afford and provides the organization a simple way to quantify costs.

Approval Workflow Systems requested through the IoD portal employ an email-based approval process to ensure a line manager
is aware of the costs and resources requested. Manager approval results in the automated creation of the virtual machine and
resultant notification to the requestor, system administrator and line manager of the successful deployment of said resource.

Security Portability Industry-leading security is fully employed within IoD ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of
the users’ virtual machine. Security Policies are analyzed and migrated from a physical to a virtual firewall.

Single Pane of Glass IoD provides a Single Pane of Glass to view and manage all the virtual machines deployed within the
customers’ private cloud.

Industry Partnerships: LANL partnered with Industry to implement this game changing technology. As a launch customer of
VMware vCloud Director and vShield Application, LANL was provided access to early Beta software, provided feedback to the vendor
which they in turn used to update their code base prior to the announcement of this new product at VMworld 2010. LANL
continues to work with VMware and other vendors to drive innovation in industry.

Laboratory Partnerships: LANL plays a leadership role in the complex in regards to cloud computing by partnering with other
national laboratories to leverage the IoD Portal for their own private cloud initiatives.
