 THE DVZ-JZR (JET-ZONE-REACTOR)

The unique bioreactor DVZ - JZR (Jet-Zone-Reactor) represents a highly efficient

aeration technology which operates according to the injector principle for the treatment
of waste water in the plant-specific biological cleaning stage. Due to the high throughput
performance and the compact construction of the reactor this treatment technology has
very low space requirements. Up to 75% of the space requirements of a conventional
sewage treatment plant can be saved by using the JZR system. Its special construction
without moving parts ensures low maintenance and high operational safety for many years.

The reactor is divided in two parts; the jet zone mixes the
medium while the reaction zone determines the retention time.

The waste water is introduced into the lower part of the jet zone together with the activated
sludge via a two-substance-nozzle with interior air gassing. Here, the bacteria are intensively
mixed with air and waste water substrate. The multiple deflection of the liquid creates a loop
flow in the jet zone, achieving an optimal loading of the biomass with the substrates. A part
of the mixture of three substances flows from the baffle plate to the upper reactor zone
(reaction zone), where the bacteria form bigger flake agglomerates and react to exhaustion.
Another loop is formed in the reaction zone, driven by the gas content difference between
the mixture of three phases in the ring zone and the plug-in tube.

Benefit: At least a four times smaller Sewage Treatment System (Footprint)

THE DVZ-BMSU (BIOMASS-SEPARATION-UNIT)

The special alloyed stainless steel membrane units, developed and manufactured
by DVZ, are operating according to the so-called "cross flow principle"; they are
installed outside the bioreactor in order to ensure easy accessibility.

Thanks to the use of a high-quality and durable alloy, the membrane modules
can be used in a wide range of pH, pressure and temperature situations.
A special-developed automatic cleaning system ensures long and trouble-free
periods of operation. The modules can normally be cleaned with our internal
Cleaning-In-Place-Process (CIP); no regular exchange is required.
No additional disinfection stage or the use of chemicals, in order to comply with
limit values, e.g. as set by the IMO, or in special areas, is necessary. This makes
the system an economic and low-maintenance solution for our customers.

Membrane filtration with the Biomass-Separation-Unit (DVZ-BMSU) is a method

for separating the suspended particles or dissolved materials according to
the molecular weight and size. Due to the differential pressure, the membrane
acts as a sieve. Particles which are smaller than the membrane pores size,
will pass as permeate. The larger particles will remain concentrated behind
the diaphragm wall.
