ABSTRACT
This research work is titled: “Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on Public Senior Secondary
School Students Academic Performance in Mubi-North Local Government Area,
Adamawa State”. the specific objectives of the research includes: to identify the impact of
Covid-19 pandemic in the study area, to establish the safety protocols put in place to curb with
spread of Covid-19 pandemic and to ascertain the effect of ICT on students’ Academic
performance in Public Senior Secondary Schools in Mubi-North. The data was analyzed using
mean tool and standard deviation. Based on the analysis of data obtained, the major findings of
the research report include the following: the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on students’
Academic Performance in SS (public school) in Mubi-North and the Effect of ICT on Students’
Academic Performance in the Study Area. The research instrument used in this was a set of
structured questionnaires; The research design in this study is survey research designed; the
targeted population for this study consists of all the SS class in Public Senior Secondary Schools
in Mubi-North Local Government Area of Adamawa State; To ensure validity of the instrument,
a questionnaire was given to the supervisor and three other lectures from the Department of NTI
Fed Poly, Mubi for face and content validity; Data for this study will be analyzed using Mean
tool and Standard and Deviation statistics due to the Descriptive nature of the research. Based on
the findings of the research work, the researcher concluded that The national lockdown of
educational institutions in Mubi-North Local Government Area Adamawa State and across
Nigeria have caused a major interruption in students learning; disruptions in an academic
program, suspension of terminal examination, cancellation of internal and external examination
(NECO and WAEC), creating a gap in teaching and learning and probably caused manpower
shortage in the schools as a result of a death caused by COVID-19. Based on the above findings
and recommendation, the study posited the following recommendations. The government should
increase the funding of secondary schools in next year's budget to allow them to manage all the
damages caused by the COVID-19 school close down, The government should immediately
embark on the integration of all secondary schools into online education and The Nigeria
government should direct all the secondary schools to extend physical teaching, conduct online
teaching and jointly solve new problems that may arise in the teaching process.
