Narrative Essay:

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is the great man in Philippine History

‘Your Concern Is Human Rights, Mine Is Human Lives’

Change is coming!

From my standpoint, the great man in Philippine history sent by God is President
Rodrigo Roa Duterte. From those two taglines/sayings above, he really did change
the Philippines by his build build build program, and protect the lives of so many
Filipinos by implementing the war on drugs campaign.

If being a good leader means respecting human rights and the due process of law
and defending your sovereignty against invaders then by all means he is not a good
leader. I’m not also on his side when it comes to killings since it is opposed to the
rights of a human but as to what he said, ‘Your Concern Is Human Rights, Mine Is
Human Lives’. President Duterte has been fighting for human lives over human
rights. By this statement, I stand on his point because human rights will be useless
if the addicts themselves will destroy the lives of the people.

In my view, he is a great man because he is a capable leader. It is a cliché to say

but, a great leader should be a great follower, and President Duterte acts more like
a father to his nation than a mere electee, and he does his job accordingly. Being a
father figure, he is hated by many who want nothing but to rebel for the sake of the
few instead of looking in the long term as the president does.

When you look at the last five presidents, he comes out on top. For his 6 years in
office, I consider him a good leader; he is not flawless, but he has changed the
Philippines in a short amount of time; just imagine how many projects he has built-
in comparison to the previous 30 years of previous presidents that will be helpful
until the next generation. He also gets an “excellent” rating for making promises.
He first promised to eradicate drugs and other illegal practices in the country.

In his term, less corruption and a political will to fight the oligarchs and
communists in our nation have been evident. With this kind of leadership in place,
the Philippines will continue to progress and become the next country to be
inspired and equal to the industrialized countries.
When I heard a lot of bashing and hare comments for President Duterte, I did not
waver in my position that he is more capable of changing the Philippines. He
promised and he did.
He may not have the personal characteristics others value, but he is a strong leader
and as long as he is a benevolent one and works for the common people of the
Philippines, he is the right leader for the Philippines and I also considered as the
great man in the Philippine History aside from the late President Ferdinand Marcos
Sr.
