-Manipulating Surface and Quilts

Objectives:
After completing this tutorial, you will be able to:
• Extend surface
• Trim surface
• Copy surface
• Offset surface
• Transform surface.

Create a model looks like Fig.1. We will use such model to demonstrate how to manipulate
surface.

Task1: Extend Surface.


1. Select one edge, go to menu, Edit->Extend, specify a distance to extend.

2. Use right click on the distance white box on screen to add varying extend distance.

Task2: Trim Surface.


1. Select the surface1 shown in Fig.1, go to menu, Edit->Trim, Then select the surface
2.

2. Flip the yellow arrow.

Task4: Copy Surface.


1. Select the surface you want to copy, go to menu, Edit->copy.

Task4: Offset Surface.


1. Select the surface 1, go to menu, Edit->offset. Specify the distance to offset

2. On the dashboard, Select With draft and click .

3. Just draw a circle and quit sketcher. Only the circle is offset on surface 2

Task5: Trans form Surface.


1. Select the surface 1, go to menu, Edit->Move. Select the axis of the surface 2 as the
move direction. Specify a value as the move distance.

2. On the dashboard, click , then specify a angle to rotate.

3. On the Tab references, check Keep Original to keep a copy at the original place
after move.

Project:
Create a logo like the following picture (Hint: using Offset->with draft)
