FRIDA KAHLO
Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderón was born on July 6,
1907 in Coyoacán.
Frida's father was German and her mother was of
Spanish and indigenous descent. Kahlo was fluent in
Spanish, English, and German.
Memories of Frida
She was a teacher at the "National School of Painting". She
only had four students, who were known as "Los Fridos"
In 1926 she painted her first self-portrait, which she
dedicated to Alejandro Gómez Arias, her first love.
Kahlo was part of the first 35 women who attended the
National High School of Mexico.
She was one of the first Mexican artists to exhibit her work
at the Louvre museum in Paris, France.
