Who is Frida Kahlo ?
Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderón known as Frida Kahlo,
was born on July 6, 1907 in Coyoacán in Mexico City. He studied
at the German School and at the National Preparatory School in
Mexico City.
Frida Kahlo's art consisted mainly of paintings that expressed the
sufferings and torments she went through throughout her life. She
made numerous self-portraits in which she crudely expressed her
personal experiences and also distanced herself from artistic
stereotypes about the feminine, which influenced the recovery of her
image by feminist movements after her death.

The two Fridas, the most famous work of

representative works of Frida Kahlo, the
painter made this work in 1939 when she
returned to Mexico after divorcing the
Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, with whom
she lived in the United States

This work is a self-portrait, where Frida Kahlo represents herself from


two identities: one of them wears a white lace dress that, according to
experts, symbolizes a European heritage and represents the Frida who was
influenced by the art of the old continent.

The other Frida is dressed in a tehuana, a typical costume originating from


Oaxaca. The Frida in the white dress holds a pair of scissors that cut an
artery that connects the two hearts of the Fridas. The one from Tehuana
holds a small portrait of Diego Rivera. Experts point out that the scissors
